Lone Mums Who Work Are "Less Likely to Suffer From Depression", Says Survey - Little Darlings Magazine | Mums In Business | Scoop.it
A survey carried out by the University of Bath and the charity Gingerbread, found that single mums who have a job are less likely to suffer from depression than those who don’t. The results of the survey showed that depression in single mums who had a job fell from 32% to 23% between the mid-1990s and the mid-2000s. Among mums who did not have a job, it rose from 33% to 41%. Dr Susan Harkness, who led the study, used data from the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS) to look at rates of depression between 1993 and 1998 and between 2003 to 2008.
