My students love interactive games on the computer. They recently got chrome books for our school so our students have constant access to the internet. This is a great website for students to work on a variety of skills. This quarter students worked diligently on multiplication and arrays. This website offers engaging practice with both. My students would be excited to do this online and making it fun and engaging. I have a lot of students who struggle with math and this could be a great way to get them excited about learning it.

Arcademic Skill Builders - Grand Prix Multiplication

Arcademic Skill Builders - Grand Prix Multiplication | Multiplication Teaching Resources | Scoop.it
Grand Prix Multiplication is a multi-player racing game that allows students from anywhere in the world to race one another while practicing their multiplication facts!

My students loved playing this game! It was a great way to practice their times tables. They raced against each other by logging on to different computers and joining a race set up by one student. The race cars were powered by their math fact knowledge; the faster they knew their math facts, the faster their car would go!

I think this is a great website! My students love being on the computer and they are very competitive. This would be a great way to motivate them to learn their facts instead of having to give them math facts tests every day. This could also be integrated with another subject because the game allows you to play with students from anywhere in the world. This could lead to a social studies lesson about different places in the world and the idea of place making. I think this is a great resource!

Gobble Bump Multiplication Game

Gobble Bump Multiplication Game | Multiplication Teaching Resources | Scoop.it

"Fun seasonal activity for kids to practice their multiplication facts!"

Multiplication Gobble Bump is a game created by 2nd grade teacher Denise Boehm. It's a partner game that works well in a math center. The kids roll two dice, multipy the numbers, and cover the answer with a marker. If their partner has a marker on tha board in that spot, they bump the marker off! This game is a great way to practice beginning multiplication because the numbers on the dice (1 to 6) limit the difficulty level of the problems. You can download it for free from Denise's store on TeachersPayTeachers.com. This would be terrific for those few days before Thanksgiving!

My students used this website on a daily basis when we were practicing times tables. It's not fancy, but it's easy to use and really helpful. I like the way the kids can click on a particular set of math facts to practice, or they can choose the mixed-practice review.

Julia Lyles's curator insight, December 16, 2013 9:40 AM

My students are in centers most of the day. This way they are able to experience different modes of learning and work with other students in inquiry based learning as well as guided learning from myself and my mentor teacher. These activities can be used in centers instead of worksheets or work from the book. Students are able to use cards, dice, boards and more to pratice their math skills specifically multiplication, division, addition and subtraction. These are skills that third graders are expected to master before they move on to fourth grade. I love the idea of having students work together in a fun and engaging way to practice their math skills.
