Tech with Jen: Interactive Reading Notebooks

Tech with Jen: Interactive Reading Notebooks | Multiple Intelligences | Scoop.it

Interactive Reading Notebooks seem to be all of the rage. Its no wonder because Common Core State Standards require students to read, examine, and discuss a variety of texts. The reading notebook is a tool to aide comprehension, write about thinking, and provide evidence from text.

iPad Apps for Multiple Intelligences - A Clickable Image

iPad Apps for Multiple Intelligences - A Clickable Image | Multiple Intelligences | Scoop.it
What makes the iPad brilliant is that it caters to all different intelligences. In fact most apps touch upon all different types of intelligences. I've tried to match all of my favorite educational apps with their corresponding intelligences.

This post will provide links to iPad apps that are looked at using Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. It is important to remember that many apps may link to a variety of the intelligences. She also quotes Daniel Willingham "Children do differ in their abilities with different modalities, but teaching the child in his best modaility doesn't affect his educational achievement. What does matter is whether the child is taught in the content's best modality."

Each multiple intelligence is represented in the full image. Click on the app icon to see in the App Store.

The Online Interactive Thinking Strategies and Tools are designed to enable students to think with depth and structure. This article Thinking Tools builds inclusive learning by building students coping and problem solving capacities. This article links with my topic of Using Mathematical Higher Order Thinking in the digital Technologies to present their thoughts and findings using Multiple Intelligences. This program could be used to support the Digital Technologies processes and production skills strand of the proposed Technologies learning area of the Australian Curriculums sub-strand of Interactions and impacts.  The learning curve provides inclusive learning by building cohesive learning partnerships

Hi Mohini,
Just had a read of this article - fantastic! I really like how they have presented the interactive thinking strategies and tools that promote deep thinking and further structure. I think this article is particularly important in relation to the topic of higher order thinking in mathematics, which is so vital to students being educated in the 21st Century by fostering critical thinking.
Great job, feel free to check out my curated collection on implementing technology eucation through science with a focus on Natural Disasters at http://www.scoop.it/t/implementing-technology-education-through-science
Thanks again for your insight and hard work,

Not Every Child Is Secretly a Genius - The Chronicle Review - The Chronicle of Higher Education

Not Every Child Is Secretly a Genius - The Chronicle Review - The Chronicle of Higher Education | Multiple Intelligences | Scoop.it

The idea of intelligence —that human beings possess, to varying degrees, an innate and universal ability to learn—has taken a beating in recent decades. Ever since Stephen J. Gould's Mismeasurement of Man (Norton, 1981) and Howard Gardner's Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences (Basic Books, 1983), the notion of a single intelligence entity, typically called "g," has come under assault. That is unfortunate.
