Is Google's love affair with content marketing usurping SEO?

Is Google's love affair with content marketing usurping SEO? | Multimedia Journalism | Scoop.it
Google's preference for content marketing raises the question of whether the objectivity of algorithms can account for the subjectivity of quality
Andy Bull's insight:

Google makes brand journalism essential for organisations. From the report: "SEO now requires a much more varied skill set, something more akin to high quality writing and PR."

Laura Brown's comment, May 14, 2:18 PM
People put so much effort into marketing content they could be writing quality content in the first place instead.
M. Edward Borasky's comment, May 14, 5:00 PM
That's become a cliché. The Internet has become a place where humans and robots are struggling, sometime in real time, to achieve a working relationship. There is no point in "writing quality content" if nobody will pay to read it, or, for that matter, if nobody will know it exists because the "content management system" has failed to make the robot aware it exists.
