Tips for teaching reading

How to involve the whole group in reading:

- jigsaw reading;
- trying to read the text with gaps in two groups - one having the information that the other doesn't;
- another way is similar but instead of gaps two groups have different information so they have to read and decide whose variant is true;
- one more variation is giving two parts of the text with some number of words "not fitting the context". Two groups have the same number of these words and they need the words of another team to change thier wrong ones. So they follow their reading and help to spot out theses words;
- cut the text into stripes and ask the kids to put it in order, then in teams they get points for correct answers;
- selective reading - finding something in the text (words, information, structures etc.) makes them re-read it again and again;
- recently I've started using some sort of "word clouds" for reading - one person comes to the board and writes down any word from the text, the next comes out, recollects the sentence with this word from the text and writes another word.
