This is a novel little example for tailing your application logs in Play 2.0 in your browser. It’s incredibly simple, it uses Play asynchronous chunked responses with a custom logback appender.

Play includes a sample Chat application which demonstrates how to use Comet. The example doesn't explain what's going on though, so here's what I've figured out.

So what is Akka? It's an Actor framework for the JVM that is implemented in Scala but that is something that you rarely notice when working from Java. It offers a nice Java API that provides most of the functionality in a convenient way.
