Videokits

Videokits | mrpbps iDevices | Scoop.it

"Videokits, is an app for the guided creation of mobile video."

John Pearce's insight:

Videokits is an interesting idea but.......  It contains sample storyboard suggestions (as pay for in app purchases) which can be re-arranged within the app. It also has a teleprompter which contains suggestions and shooting tips amongst other ideas. The app also contains some music and graphics which can be used to assemble your video.

The biggest drawbacks surround the limited, (for education), kits and the need to purchase each one individually, (it would be better to have bundles maybe).

How To Capture Ideas Visually With The iPad

How To Capture Ideas Visually With The iPad | mrpbps iDevices | Scoop.it

"One microcosm of the potential of the iPad in learning in the concept of visual recording.

Visual recording is what it sounds like it’d be. As opposed to recording audio, visual recording captures visuals, though not necessarily in photographic form. The process of visually capturing ideas with the iPad isn’t terribly complex in concept. If you can think of concept-mapping, you’ve halfway there.

But executing it in practice–and then doing something meaningful with those iPad-captured images–isn’t as second-nature simply because it’s not something you do everyday.

The following video does an excellent job of exploring this idea, answering the following questions:"

iPads in Primary Education: 10 Practical Ways to Use Videoscribe HD in Education | mrpbps iDevices | Scoop.it

"In this post I'm going to share 10 practical ways Videoscribe HD can be used by teachers and pupils in their classrooms. Videoscribe HD is one of my favourite app, so much so I've recently signed up for the Pro Version on the Mac."

John Pearce's insight:

David Andrews shows off a range of videos created with Videoscribe demonstrating the app. Whilst the videos that are created with this app are initially appealing and attention grabbing I do wonder whether like Prezi and some other 'unique' presentation tools the novelty of the presentation mode might not mask the message and that it might also eventually wear off?

It's like a cross between Chatroulette and Quora with a sprinkling of Skype. Questions - Ask and Answer is fun and innovative.
John Pearce's insight:

Though the app might be a bit too open for most educators to consider using within the classroom it will still be quite attractive to many of those same students. It will be interesting to see if there are more closed spin-offs.

App Store - WatchKnow Educational Videos

WatchKnow Educational Videos is a companion app to the www.WatchKnow.org website which provides free educational videos for teachers, students, parents, and homeschoolers teaching students in K—12 (USA) or ages 3—18 (international).

The videos are reviewed and approved by teachers for teachers (Kid Safe!) and are placed in 3,000 different categories using a “super” directory with multiple subdirectories. Our Web site is organized as a wiki so teachers and educators can participate in the organization and growth of the WatchKnow video library. Our users have the ability to rate all videos (using a 5-star method) with the result that the best videos are shown first in the list of over 20,000 educational videos. Our teacher-editors also modify video titles and descriptions so relevant videos can be found quickly, tag the videos with an age rating, and indicate the original source of the video.

ShowYou on the iPad is being compared to Flipboard, but for videos | iGo With My iPad

ShowYou on the iPad is being compared to Flipboard, but for videos | iGo With My iPad | mrpbps iDevices | Scoop.it
Down the hall, you can hear the little voice. It sounds like the voice from the movie The Fly. Help me it says... Why?

"ShowYou on the iPad is being compared to Flipboard, but for videos. The ShowYou app is Free and it’s Universal. There is an option to sign up for an account so you too can post videos, like and comment. Upon launching, there is a variety of video screen capture images on the screen, each with a bit of information on the subject matter. Sweeping up/down takes you through time so you can see what was posted days ago compared to minutes. Sweeping across the screen shows you where multiple videos became available around the same time. As you sweep and tap-to-view, it becomes apparent why some call this the Flipboard for video, the app is very visual with just enough info to help you decide if you want to view or continue on."
