The Best Way to Use iBooks Author in Education | edcetera - Rafter Blog

The Best Way to Use iBooks Author in Education | edcetera - Rafter Blog | mrpbps iDevices | Scoop.it

"Sometimes we focus on what an app can’t do and forget to look at what it can. That’s been the case with iBooks Author, Apple’s e-book creation platform released nearly a year ago.

Part of the problem was Apple’s own hyperbolic statements about its “disruptive” nature to the textbook publishing industry. It failed to live up to the hype for a variety of well-documented reasons. But this post is about what it is, not what it isn’t."

e is for book: iBooks Author: Links to resources (so far) | mrpbps iDevices | Scoop.it

"If you are interested in making ebooks, you've probably already heard about Apple's new iBook creation tool, iBooks Author. To clear up one bit of confusion, iBooks Author is a Mac app (for desktop or laptop computer) to make an interactive iBook that is read in the iBooks 2 app on the iPad. In other words, you're not making the iBook on your iPad, unlike Book Creator, for example, which makes a standard iBook. (Here is my post about using Book Creator.)"

"How many 7th Graders can say they best selling authors? Well this group of kids from Woodlawn Beach Middle School in Northern Florida can thanks to their teacher Andrea Santilli and iBooks Author.
Ms. Santilli, a self-professed “die-hard Mac girl”, was looking for a new way to not only challenge her Advanced Life Sciences class, but also leverage technology to make learning fun. Not to mention get some practical experience in the real world of writing, photography, video, and ebook publishing. Book Creator for iPad – updated again for greater e-book functionality (tutorial) | mrpbps iDevices | Scoop.it

"A lot of iPad users in schools have already heard of Book Creator for iPad. I’ve written about it before on my blog before. Nevertheless, I have put together a how to guide in different formats (ebook, PDF and video) to showcase its features and highlight its new features just added in a recent update that how to guides online don’t feature at the moment. ( the how to guide included in the app is still the original guide that doesn’t include half the current features)."
