A great way to review new concepts is to create a Tic Tac Toe game slide in PowerPoint. In the example from a foreign language class to the right, images are used to represent new vocabulary.  However, this could be easily applied to other content areas as well: in a math class with formulas, in a history class historical figures or dates, in a science class with symbols from the periodic table...

It is with hearts aflutter that we hear our B.C. ministry of education would like our number one goal for 2013 to be  on teaching literacy skills to our primary students.  In their strategic plan the top goals include literacy, healthy living, special needs, sustainability, and employment creation.  By 2015/16 B.C. would like to have all kindergarten students entering school "ready to learn"!  Read more about literacy promotion with Pippa Davies HCS Learning Commons Chair as shares on her blog.
