Something amazing happens when reality exceeds expectations. For comic-book fans, seeing all six Marvel superheroes on screen fighting evil in a film together was a long-anticipated and often-promised event.

Have Canon bitten off more than they can chew with this camera ? For all the hype over the last two years with the DSLR being used on various programs from corporate to broadcast it’s become very apparent as I predicted a year ago that the video DSLR would take a nosedive in favour of the large sensor video cameras being produced by Sony, Canon, Panasonic, JVC and BlackMagic.

"New York based photographer Ian Spanier had Muscular Development ask him to shoot pro bodybuilder and four-time Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler. For budgetary reasons, Ian was sent solo with no assistant. Not wanting to shoot available light on one hand and not wanting to have setup time interfere with the flow of the day, Ian came up with an original solution. Ian rigged a Photoflex OctoDome nxt to a Lowepro Scope Porter 200 AW Backpack to get a nice diffused light coming from over head (or slightly sided if he bent his neck the right way)."

On The Ticket, the lighting was a challenge because we used natural, available light and shaped it. I turned lights off, then added accent lights to bring out the depth of a location.

I was lucky enough to be the first person to shoot with the new Vision Research Phantom M120 camera systems. This is just a sample of a project I have had in my head for a while. With help from Abel Cine I was able to test out the camera’s before they shipped and put this little edit together. Being able to have a small form factor high speed camera like this for my projects is a long time wish.

A funny thing happened at CinemaCon last week, when Warner Bros. previewed scenes from Peter Jackson's upcoming The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in what could be a revolutionary new acquisition and projection format of 48fps. Response to the new technology — which better represents the motion our eye see in the real world and reduces the flicker and "strobing" effects that often plague movies shot with moving cameras — was mixed.

There are three constants in life—death, taxes, and oversized workstations. Why are workstations so large? They need breathing space for their powerful components, which could overheat if they aren’t cooled properly. As a result, no one had successfully designed an all-in-one workstation.

Jon Spaihts: "Ridley is a creative volcano and it was a major part of my job just trying to keep up with him. He's a marvel." DRC: Also interesting is Spaihts on why Hollywood & the video game industry take such a different approach to producing science fiction properties.

I finally got my hands on the new Fastec TS3 Cine camera and I love it. It is truly a portable high speed solution that is very easy to use! EDIT 5/2/12: I shot a video blog detailing the operation of the camera and also traveled to a local greenhouse that was filled with colorful butterflies. It was very humid and warm inside the greenhouse and the TS3 preformed quite well. I used all Nikon manual 35mm glass with a c-mount to Nikon adapter on the TS3.
