Snapchat Is Now The #3 Social App Among Millennials | Movin' Ahead | Scoop.it

Snapchat is now the third most popular social app among millennials, according to a recent report by comScore, which finds that Snapchat has 32.9% penetration on these young users’ mobile phones, trailing only Instagram (43.1%) and Facebook (75.6%).

That means the app is more popular than Twitter, Pinterest, Vine, Google+ or Tumblr among the millennial demographic, which comScore defines as those between the ages of 18 and 34.

The 2014 State of Digital Transformation

The 2014 State of Digital Transformation | Movin' Ahead | Scoop.it

Today, I’m proud to announce the release of Altimeter Group’s second report on Digital Transformation. This new report is aimed at executives and digital strategists to help them (you) further understand the state of digital transformation as you plan your next steps and investments.

In our initial report, “Digital Transformation: Why and How Companies are Investing in New Business Models to Lead Digital Customer Experiences (DCX),” we learned that digital transformation was as much about technology as it was about people. It was a much more human story, one that shared insights, advice and cautionary tales from those on the front lines.

In 2003 McDonald’s was a global corporation in decline. A brand that had built it’s reputation on the simple slogan that it was a happy place to be; which had democratised eating out, had forgotten what it was about.

I believe that we have to recenter the human machine relationship, and this must be done from school, letting young kids learn that they control the machine, and not the other way round.

Computational thinking and critical thinking are for humans.

Does Website Speed Affect Your Ranking? (infographic) | Movin' Ahead | Scoop.it
Have you ever been to a slow site and it felt like it took hours to load? You look down at your computer clock and really only 30 seconds have gone by. That's just the user experience on a slow site- the real question is “Does your website speed effect your ranking?” Will your slightly slower site be penalized by Google and other search engines when you clients are even looking for you?In this easy to understand graphic, we see that 1 second makes all the difference in the world. And after just 6 short weeks of poor load times, your site can lose 75% of it’s traffic to that page.If you have a low ranking you might want to follow some of the Google Guidelines to pre-load your most popular pages to increase your site’s overall performance.

The Young Have the Most Fun with Mobile Video - eMarketer

The Young Have the Most Fun with Mobile Video - eMarketer | Movin' Ahead | Scoop.it
As tablet and smartphone adoption grow, video viewing is increasingly occurring via mobile platforms. According to a new eMarketer report, tablet and smartphone video viewers tend to be young. This is a signal that content owners who cater to millennials and young adults should prioritize their mobile video programming, if they haven't already done so.

Jeff Anderson | GSN's curator insight, August 19, 3:02 PM

A February 2014 Rhythm NewMedia study on demographic trends in mobile video reached the following conclusions about millennials:

  • Nearly nine in 10 (89.6%) millennials watched smartphone video, and 76.8% viewed tablet video; those percentages were higher than for any other demographic group in the study.
  • Millennials watched more short-form content, entertainment news and user-generated content on smartphones than average.
  • Around four in five (77%) millennials viewed mobile video ads in exchange for free premium content; that figure was higher than for any other age group.

For content owners, these trends represent an opportunity to engage with hard-to-reach audiences.

David Collet's curator insight, August 19, 8:41 PM

This is for youth entrepreneurs. It also follows up on a post I made yesterday with a comment about education. The future will see much more marketing being done through You Tube or whatever the flavour of the day is. And the format is dramatically different. Attention spans are much shorter. Interests are much more varied.

Should you re-publish your content to other blogs, Medium or LinkedIn blog? A data-driven answer

Should you re-publish your content to other blogs, Medium or LinkedIn blog? A data-driven answer | Movin' Ahead | Scoop.it

One of the Lean Content best practices we’ve seen several speakers at our meetups recommend is to leverage existing audiences on top of your own to increase the reach and the impact of your content. While your blog may or may not yet have a strong audience, there’s always more people to reach. By placing your content on publishing platforms which offer interesting discovery mechanisms or having blogs that are read in your industry re-publish it, you could in theory multiply your own reach by not doing much more.

Guillaume Decugis's curator insight, July 21, 5:04 PM

There are of course some Pros and Cons to do that and we also wanted to measure how valuable such a strategy could be. While there's certainly an impact and we confirmed re-publishing to be an awesome lean content strategy, our conclusion is more nuanced: depending on your content strategy objectives, you might want to embrace this strategy 100% or consider alternatives.

Here's why.
