Motivating Special Education Students and Parents
To get some special education students to genuinely care about their productivity and the quality of their work can be an earth shaking task. Sometimes no matter what you do some of our students make it really challenging to engage them and keep them engaged. Having to teach multiple levels of cognitive abilities effectively requires much planning with a variety differentiation activities. Engaging parents can be event more challenging; however, statistically when students experience the highest success, there are collaborative efforts between school and home. I believe if more teachers purposely and eagerly pursued more parent participation it would happen. The results of the teachers effort would be happier students and potentially increased academic performance.
