Discovering Africa: Imlil Valley, The Berber Village At The Foot Of The Mountains

Discovering Africa: Imlil Valley, The Berber Village At The Foot Of The Mountains | Morocco Travel | Scoop.it

Imlil is a small village located in the Atlas Mountains in the Kingdom of Morocco. It is one of the Berber villages along the way, and it lays about 1,700 meters above sea level, thus making it the center of the mountain tourism in Morocco. Imlil relies mainly on terraced agriculture and the brownish Berber villages make a harsh and beautiful contrast to the green terraces.

Morocco is one of the most liberal Islamic countries – Morocco might be your destination of choice. On the continent of Africa, over the Straight of Gibraltar from Spain, Morocco is really a country that has a long interesting history and culture that many people might find fascinating and want to explore.

Morocco: The good oil - New Zealand Herald

Morocco: The good oil
New Zealand Herald
The road from Marrakech through Sidi Moktar to the wind-blown Atlantic coast of Morocco is largely bereft of vegetation, and people.
Jana Pekova's insight:

The Argan trees are rare in the world as they don't grow anywhere else. Some people from Israel try to plant them in their country as they though their conditions are similar to Moroccan coast, but the Argan trees would not grow. We on occasion have the argan oil mixed with nuts for breakfast and it is so yummy.

Morocco: a road trip out of the Atlas

High in the Atlas mountains my sister Caroline and I sat by the side of a gravelly road in the ramshackle village of Imlil.
Jana Pekova's insight:

Atlas are great place to go especially during the summer. The temperatures are so much cooler yet the scenery is stunning.
