MOODLE MOOC - Integrating Technology 4 Active Lifelong Learning
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) began with the idea of connecting for learning via personal learning environments (PLEs) using blogs, wikis, google groups, and Moodle. According to Wikipedia, the term MOOC is said to have started in 2008 by Dave Cormier and Bryan Alexander "in response to an open online course designed and lead by George Siemens and Stephen Downes" (wikipedia).
However, MOOCs have changed from the idea of connecting with others for learning to the more traditional content delivery format as demonstrated by Khan's Academy, MIT's and Standford.
The presenter has participated in MOOCs since 2008. She will discuss the transition of the MOOC from having an active learning format to what they are today - content sharing and teaching to the masses.

Spring is a great time to follow old and new dreams. Mine has always been to teach online. Teaching online is a great way to make extra money or earn a living by creating your very own online courses. Teaching online is full of AHA moments as teachers get to teach their way without having the school force them to teach to the test. Teaching online engages both the teacher and student. What better way to teach and learn via Moodle. Moodle is a free course and learning management system (CMS & LMS) that allows teachers to cater to students' individual needs. Twitter Hacker on the Loose!
FYI, there's a hacker with a great spam if you fall for it, which I did. It comes from your twitter contacts and it says someone is saying bad things about you. A link follows the message. If you click on the link, your twitter account is hacked and it begins to send the spam. I changed my password so I'm out of the loop, but the game is still on so don't click on the link if you get the message from someone else. So, if you are curious and click on the link, people will be saying bad things about you. Let's make our online presence a good one by warning each other so we do not fall into the traps that are being developed as I write this. Let your friends know about this hacker so that we can have a safe online exchange.
