The course includes live online classes (with recordings), content (via the courseware), discussions (via the course feed), and hands-on activities. Participants will create videos using Webcams via WizIQ classes, screencast-o-matic, upload to Youtube and Vimeo for blended learning, the flipped class, and to market their online courses. Participants will learn how to teach with the use of web technologies such as blogs, wikis, google drive, badges, the WizIQ live class, Moodle, social networks, and videos.
Participants who complete the tasks will receive a certificate of participation.
The current Moodle MOOC is in its second week. The participants are eager to learn and share their explorations, learning and teaching experiences, and findings with each other. The energy is high for sharing and learning.
You’re invited to join the first Moodle MOOC of its kind on WizIQ on May 31, 2013 for the opening ceremony.
The Moodle MOOC will officially begin on June 1 and end on June 30, 2013. However, participants will be able to continue learning together and receive ongoing support from the facilitators for as long as they wish after the official date. The recordings of the life sessions, the courseware and coursefeed will be available indefinitely. Yes, the MOOC will be accessible after the event. You may join and invite your friends and colleagues to team up and collaborate with you during and after the course officially ends.
You will get ongoing support from the organizer of the MOOC, from the course feed on the course, and/or by filling in the following google drive form.
The workload for the MOOC includes viewing the recording of 7 live sessions (unless you can be in the sessions) and developing a reflective artifact in the form of a blog, wiki, google drive doc, website, web page on a website and so on to sustain the information relevant to your needs and your learning experiences. In addition, participants will be able to learn to manage a Moodle website as a teacher or manager. The course activities and resources are available below.
Participants, who are active on the coursefeed (discussions), do the tasks (see resources and activities), attend all and/or view the recordings of all the sessions, reflect and write about the event and their experiences and share the link of their activities (blog, wiki, Moodle, facebook and other social networks) will be eligible for a certificate of completion.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) began with the idea of connecting for learning via personal learning environments (PLEs) using blogs, wikis, google groups, and Moodle. According to Wikipedia, the term MOOC is said to have started in 2008 by Dave Cormier and Bryan Alexander "in response to an open online course designed and lead by George Siemens and Stephen Downes" (wikipedia).
However, MOOCs have changed from the idea of connecting with others for learning to the more traditional content delivery format as demonstrated by Khan's Academy, MIT's and Standford.
The presenter has participated in MOOCs since 2008. She will discuss the transition of the MOOC from having an active learning format to what they are today - content sharing and teaching to the masses.
