Groupings - MoodleDocs

Groupings - MoodleDocs | Moodle Learning Management System | Scoop.it

If you want to make an activity (such as an assignment or a quiz) visible to only one set of users within a course, you need first to put the users into a groupand then put them into a grouping. A single grouping can house one group or several groups.

If you assign an activity to a grouping then only the group/grouping that is selected will be able to see and do the activity. It will be invisible to other groups or groupings.

NOTE: if you want to show resources (such as a folder or webpage) to just to one group and not another, see Available for group members only.

Moodle - PHP - MYSQL - APACHE: Where are those files in moodle 2.x?

Kato Prince's insight:
I set up a moodle instance about 6 months ago as a file repository. I know, not the ideal CMS for file management, say DropBox for example.  My customer choose moodle because we could configure it to allow very large file uploads.  Files in excess of 1 GB.  My customer asked me the other day how many files had been uploaded, their size and location, which in this case is which course.

Moodle Single Activity Format

Moodle Single Activity Format | Moodle Learning Management System | Scoop.it

How many times have you just wanted to add one activity or resource to Moodle for your students to use for homework or as a support aid?  But the thought of creating a new course and then adding the activity or resource seems long winded so you don’t bother.  Well in Moodle 2.6 this can be done quickly and efficiently using the Single Activity Format.  No deleting sections because you do not need them and your students do not have to click into a course to see a solitary activity that they then have to click on to access.   Your students will see the name of the activity and click on it to start work.

The Single Activity Format is great for creating a revision quiz and taking questions from the main question bank, setting course work towards a qualification or creating a collaboration glossary for the whole school year. Ofsted like to see different members of the school community being consulted about changes or future development, so why not use Moodle to create a survey and collect the data for you.

New Moodle a hit with Concordia University pilot users

New Moodle a hit with Concordia University pilot users | Moodle Learning Management System | Scoop.it
As part of the pilot phase of the new system, eight Concordia professors and their students were actively using Moodle 2.3 during the winter term. For Walcir Cardoso, a pilot tester, associate professor of education and self-professed fan of all things Moodle, the upgraded system has transformed the way he teaches. With the addition of automatic blogs and wikis, class interaction has reached a new level. Students use the blog feature, which can be set to private or public, as a space to post their notes and comments, as well as video (which is now embedded) and links that support class discussion. “In turn, I take the topics they’ve written about and videos they’ve posted to complement what we’re learning in class. It’s become a valuable part of the learning process,” says Cardoso.
