Free Technology for Teachers: Download The Practical Ed Tech Handbook

Free Technology for Teachers: Download The Practical Ed Tech Handbook | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Richard Byrne: For the last couple of days I've been assembling a collection of my favorite ed tech resources and organizing them into a PDF that I'm calling The Practical Ed Tech Handbook. This isn't just a list of my favorite resources. I've included ideas for using these resources and in many cases I've included links to video tutorials about my favorite resources.

In The Practical Ed Tech Handbook you will find resources arranged in seven categories; communication with students & parents, web search strategies, digital citizenship, video creation, audio production, backchannels & informal assessment, and digital portfolios.

This is a great tool which matches up YouTube music videos to lyrics. Just enter the name of a singer you like then select a song. You'll see the lyrics appear beside the song. Great way to improve your language skills.

30 Online Multimedia Resources for PBL and Flipped Classrooms

30 Online Multimedia Resources for PBL and Flipped Classrooms | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
The Resource for Education Technology Leaders focusing on K-12 educators.

Shona Whyte:

Michael Gorman has a nice list of teaching resources, from familiar sites such as the BBC or PBS teachers to more specifically targeted science resources, for example.  A short introduction to each will help you decide which to explore and which to leave for another time.

There is nothing exclusively for language teaching, but these are English resources and many are aimed at under 18s, so much of what you see can be exploited in the EFL classroom under the "authentic materials" umbrella.

Welcome to Lit2Go ETC

Welcome to Lit2Go ETC | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Welcome
"Lit2Go is a free online collection of stories and poems in Mp3 (audiobook) format. An abstract, citation, playing time, and word count are given for each of the passages. Many of the passages also have a related reading strategy identified. Each reading passage can also be downloaded as a PDF and printed for use as a read-along or as supplemental reading material for your classroom."

Shona Whyte:
Mostly American out-of-copyright classics aimed at native-speakers, but well put together for teachers (transcript, reading level, word count) so usable for intermediate-plus teen or adult learners.

Nik's Learning Technology Blog: Creating illustrations and infographics for ELT tasks | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Draw.io is one of my favourite tools and the one I use most for creating graphics and infographics. As someone who doesn’t draw very well and has only limited design abilities it has really helped me out a number of times and enabled me to produce professional looking illustrations, product mockups and teaching materials.
