Free Technology for Teachers: Dozens of Alternatives to YouTube

Free Technology for Teachers: Dozens of Alternatives to YouTube | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
Over the last few years I've seen more schools opening up access to YouTube, at least to teachers, than I had in the past. YouTube for Schools has partially contributed to that trend. Tools like ViewPure and Watchkin have made using YouTube videos in schools a little less scary too. All that said, there are still lots of schools that block access to YouTube. That's why a few years ago I started to maintain a list of alternatives to YouTube.

Top 4 Benefits of Using Moodle for your School - Why it Works as a Platform for Student-Teacher Interaction

Top 4 Benefits of Using Moodle for your School - Why it Works as a Platform for Student-Teacher Interaction | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
”The only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn and change.”

– Carl Rodgers

The aforementioned quote rightly suffices the problem arising in prevalent education system. We have been cultivating ourselves since the early 19th century to use the ever changing and advancing technology. We have witnessed a revolution of “doing things” the novel way, which is through the use of technology but it is sad to know that our teaching or educating methods are still the traditional practices of a chalkboard inside the four walls of a classroom.

People certainly make use of the information available over the internet but there is lack of creativity in the teaching methods. It has been found that students lack interest in lectures over long periods of time, feel anxious to put forward their views/opinions, are hesitant to even ask a question and the list extends on, this results into confused behavior and leads up to long hours of surfing of questions over the vast internet that are left unanswered. So what is the ultimate solution? There are no “un–answers” here. MOODLE is the ultimate answer to all students’ as well as teachers’ worries.

3 Minute Teaching With Tech Tutorial - Create a Flipped Video Lesson with TedEd - YouTube

This entry in the "3 Minute Teaching With Tech Tip" video series shows how easy it is to 'flip' any YouTube video with the structured tool set provided at ed.ted.com. These lessons can be public or private, and the easy to use tools let teachers add associated content, a brief quiz, and online discussions associate with the video that is the focus point of the lesson. TedEd is totally free, and teachers get summary feedback on lesson views, quiz results, discussions, etc.

How To Create A Google Drive Classroom

How To Create A Google Drive Classroom | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

"Using the cloud in the classroom can be a powerful thing.

One of the most common uses of the cloud in today’s classroom is word processing, and one of the most common cloud-based word processing platforms is Google Drive.

We’ve talked about offering voice feedback to documents. In the above below, teacher Bjorn Behrendt explains how to set up a classroom in Google Drive. He offers dozens of tips to pre-empt the kind of challenges that you’re likely to see (e.g., students unknowingly duplicating the same file several times, not knowing which folder to turn work in to, etc.)..."
