EmergingEdTech has been running a Try-a-Tool-a-Week Challenge and this week Screencast-O-Matic is the tool of the week. If you have not used this tool and are interested in doing screencasting (also known as screen capture) take the time to review this video.

The free version allows you to record up to 15 minutes, but you cannot edit the film. There is a paid version for $15 per year, which allows for editing and unlimited length! Screencast-O-Matic may be used as a web app, or you can download it (PC and Mac).

This is one of my go-to tools.  I use it for so many things.  It's a great tool for tech support when you can share a screen with someone.  Make a quick video to model what they should be doing on their computer.

How many times you clicked on "print screen button" in your computer just to capture an image displayed in your screen? Or, how many time you recorded a video of yourself using your webcam or simply used your video camera/mobile phone to take a video from your screen just to add this file on your presentation? Isn't it so annoying and time consuming to do this stuffs over and over again? There are two tools that I am using to capture an image or record a video from my screen

A Great Tool for Creating Screencast Videos

A Great Tool for Creating Screencast Videos | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Over the last few weeks I have published a bunch of how-to videos like this one about creating stop motion movies. I've had at least a handful of people ask me in emails or Tweets about the tool that I use to create those videos. I use Screencast-O-Matic to create my screencast videos.
