How to easily export your Moodle site settings and configuration to other Moodle?

How to easily export your Moodle site settings and configuration to other Moodle? | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
Are you a Moodle administrator who used to manage multiple Moodle sites? You might have experienced the pain of configuring the same settings again and again on production, development and other instances of your Moodle site. Is there any way to simply copy and export all configuration settings from one Moodle instance to another? Answer to the question is yes.

Admin presets block is a Moodle plugin which allows you to simply export the site settings to .xml presets, import and load other sites presets. The plugin which was initially developed by David Monllaó, is now being maintained by Clément Prudhomme & Nikolaos Papoutsis. Recently, the Admin presets plugin was updated to a new version compatible with Moodle 3.3 version.

By using the admin presets block, you can export all the site settings into .xml files which can be later imported to other Moodle sites. It also provides rollback of applied changes and partial loading of presets which is a great feature for administrators.

Add #Twitter feeds to your Moodle course by Twitter Feed Block

Add #Twitter feeds to your Moodle course by Twitter Feed Block | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it
Sharing your thoughts/ideas/progress on social media is very useful to grab attention from a large number of similar interest persons over the globe. Twitter is a very powerful social platform which can now be integrated into Moodle by using a new Block plugin named “Twitter Feed” which is developed by Andrew Davidson.

Add twitter feeds to your Moodle course using Twitter feed block plugin #MoodlePluginsThe twitter feed block can display the twitter feeds from a single twitter handle in your Moodle course and the plus point with this block is easily stylable markup. To enable the twitter block to contact the twitter API you will need to set up an application for twitter to use. So, first you need to create a Twitter App here and then provide the Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, Access Token, and an Access Token Secret from Twitter App into the Twitter Feed block settings.

You can download your copy of the Twitter Feed block from the Moodle plugins database here. The block is compatible for Moodle 2.7+ websites.

When I tested the block on my Moodle 2.9 local development server, the block installed without any hassles. And after getting the tokens and secrets from Twitter App, it worked like a charm. The plugin allows you to set the number of tweets to be displayed. However, it is not showing any images in the feed and currently only one twitter handle is supported.

Get a more intuitive course dashboard for your Moodle learners

Get a more intuitive course dashboard for your Moodle learners | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

Moodle's improved course overview dashboard contains details about past, in progress and future courses, with radial progress indicator and upcoming deadlines. However, there is no way to alter the display options for the improved course dashboard.

Learning Works – New Zealand, along with Mathew May & Jeremy FitzPatrick contributed a new Moodle plugin – My Courses. The My Courses block provides an alternate dashboard for learners. It shows their enrolled courses and progress throughout the course if there is course completion enabled.

Moodle plugins: Repository File Manager

Moodle plugins: Repository File Manager | Moodle and Web 2.0 | Scoop.it

The primary purpose of this block is to provide file management capabilities for the 'Course files area' repository. However, this block is also capable of interfacing with the Moodle 2.x Files API to provide limited file browsing capabilities for some other repository types. It is hoped to further develop the management capabilities so that files held in other repository types can be managed through this block.
