A Principal's Reflections: Integration of Digital Badges to Acknowledge Professional Learning

A Principal's Reflections: Integration of Digital Badges to Acknowledge Professional Learning | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

This is an awesome post about the use of badges for CPD. Inspires me and makes me very jealous in equal measures!

Would love to hear about UK schools using badges as part of CPD. Was told that @stuartridout was considering this in his school.

Surely the lifting and handling badge is only around the corner (or on the shelf)?

Cohorts in Moodle 2.0

Great video from Mary about site wide groups and works well in conjuction with this article on Moodle.org - http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/Cohorts and this one on synching: http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Cohort_sync

We set up Cohorts for Moodle and Mahara training to make it easier to move groups between courses. What's more, we have also create a range of fun and popular users to our course which those attending can randomly pick from a generator like http://primaryschoolict.com/random-name-selector/ - its a great ice-breaker!

Here were the users from yesterday - can you spot a few famous ones? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7336564/cohorts.png

Moodle Quizzes INSET course

Moodle Quizzes INSET course | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

A meander through the Moodle course I made for the INSET training session on Moodle Quizzes. Tried to cover all of the quizzes and give teachers and opportunity to see how they could be used in lessons. Used the Progress Block as well so teachers could instantly see the progress they had made when the activity was ticked off.

I really enjoy Moodle quizzes - so much you can do with them - really challenges you to create a resource which does not simply focus on testing recal.

Quiz training looked at Self marking and manual marking varieties. Had a brief play with the poodLL plugin too (has mileage!)

Why Mahara – and how to help others get it

Why Mahara – and how to help others get it | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it
Lets get one thing straight – I love Mahara. Unfortunately I love it in the way a parent loves a child who has gone off the rails and ended up...

gideonwilliams's insight:

An entertaining read and thoughtful read. Oh for more people with his passion! The comments after are equally as valuable and of interest - especially the seond to last one. It is a bit of a shame that so much of this work is being discussed by people outside of my secondary school (11-16yrs)  interests.
