Making a Moodle Glossary for GCSE History

Making a Moodle Glossary for GCSE History | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

Creating a Moodle Glossary for History to look at the most significant events of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

How the Head of History at Perins School worked with the Director of eLearning to create a Moodle Glossary for a task where students evaluated the relevance of images related to the Cuban Missile crisis.

Quick way to create a Moodle Glossary using an XML generator

Quick way to create a Moodle Glossary using an XML generator | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it
gideonwilliams's insight:

This is brilliant. Download the Spreadsheet and enable macros. Write in your list of definitions and explanations and then run the maro to save as an .xml file.

Shakespeare Moodle glossary

Shakespeare Moodle glossary | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

I have been working with Lauren Austen @austentatiously in our English department on a new course layout using some of the ideas we have been trialling in Science.

This is a brief screencast (without sound) to show how we have developed a Glossary task to make it look a little more appealing on the eye.

The main reason for doing this was that the students will be using and adding to the glossary as part of their topic.

Notice that the glossary has a series of links at the bottom to www.screenr.com recordings that explain to students how to do different (or more developed) features when submitting an item.

Screenr Presentation: Making an Interactive Vocabulary List

Screenr Presentation: Making an Interactive Vocabulary List | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

How to take a fairly traditional vocabulary list and in a few easy and relatively pain free steps, make it into a more exciting and engaging learning tool (with the help of Excel, Quizlet and a Moodle Glossary)

Surely this can be done in any subject?

I have not tried out the Quiz generator but have used the Glossary generator and it works like a dream!

I wrote a step by step helpsheet on this for a colleague that you can access at - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7336564/Glossary.pdf - its a PDF file.
