Moodle plugins directory: Flexpage Activity

How much potential does this have. It could be a real game changer in Moodle design with a real opportunity to create engaging, dynamic and personalised designs (and content).

More details about how to set it up at http://kb.moodlerooms.com/article/50/administrator#427

Looking forward to see some examples...

Learning Analytics

Learning Analytics | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

Plugin that can be customised by teachers to measure student engagement in Moodle (course). Looks amazing and part of a number of important tools for this purpose (see this excellent post - http://salvetore.wordpress.com/2012/07/26/analytics-getting-helpful-information-out-of-an-lms/)

The plugin is available on Moodle at: https://moodle.org/plugins/view.php?plugin=block_engagement

gideonwilliams's insight:

Looking forward to getting this installed on our Moodle. Now installed - report to follow...

Julian Ridden - Dissection of a game based Moodle course - iMoot 2013

iMoot 2013 session recording.
gideonwilliams's insight:

A recording from iMoot from 2013 in which Julian Ridden (@moodleman on twitter) explains and takes apart his game based learning course.

The first 25 minutes or so are taken over to a discussion on engagment and pedagogy and is a very entertaining watch. The second part of the video is spend in discussion of his course.

The presentation is interactive and part of a workshop so it may seem a little unusual in places.

A great watch nonetheless and a very valuable contribution to an approach that is gathering some momentum (see other posts on this site under gamification, conditional activities etc)

gideonwilliams's insight:

A fascinating and illuminating post by Fred Nevers comparing two classes taught exactly similar Moodle content only differing in the rewards they get for doing so (gameification).

This is his Week One post.

Some good insights into how Moodle is used and lots of accessible ideas for all of us to try out.

Fred has now included much larger picture of both courses which show just how impressive they are. The use of conditional activities is something that needs more investigation.
