Professional ePortfolio: Don Presant - Savvyfolio.net

Professional ePortfolio: Don Presant - Savvyfolio.net | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

Want to see an amazing Mahara page used by a professional? Look no further than Don's page. Amazing design and one I show our students who sometimes think that mahara has no future beyond school lessons.

Notice the badges plugin which links his mozilla backpack to the site

Wonder what theme this is?

Badger Block brings Open and Custom Badges to a Moodle near you

Badger Block brings Open and Custom Badges to a Moodle near you | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

A block to manage all your badges!

While this block hasn't yet been released, it is a great preview of what's to come when badges can be pulled directly into Moodle and displayed or can be customized by and displayed on a specific site.

Some great work here by Ian Checkland. Read his other posts somewhere else on this Scoopit

Gamifification in education, rewards for achievement and meeting goals great way to engage learners.

Jasmin Hodge's curator insight, April 22, 2013 5:19 PM

I hope I hear when it is released as it looks like something I would definately use and need in our new Moodle 2 release this summer along with our new badge proposals :)

OpenBadges User Documentation - MoodleDocs

OpenBadges User Documentation - MoodleDocs | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

Link to documentation and test Moodle site that you can both be a teacher (to make and issue badges) and student (to earn them).

This is still very early days but highly encouraging.

Works best if you also have a Mozilla backpack set up at http://beta.openbadges.org/

Hugely encouraging and highly exciting work from Totara.

Open Badges

Open Badges | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

Good discourse through Moodle badges showing progres being made on this feature. Links to Mozilla as repository but no mention of Mahara :O(

Great to see different contributions from other locations although all mainly colleges.

Interesting to read about the complaints for badges (slide 12) and the idea that badges are showcasing skills in the same way CVs do (slides 15-17).

Really interesting to see developing use of badges to assess staff skills (slides 28-36)!

OpenBadges in Moodle: The Alternative Ending Part 5

OpenBadges in Moodle: The Alternative Ending Part 5 | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

After all the problems I had, Yuliya and Totara made me my own student account so I could demonstrate how to export to the Mozilla Backpack.

Here is the new video which also shows you how to import badges gained from other sites back into Moodle.

Bit of a ramble but we get there in the end!

Moodle's Open Badges plugin. Still in alpha and planned for a Moodle 2.5 release (I think).

Have managed to have a play with it on a friends install and it is AWESOME.

See the other Scoopit entry for details on the documentation.

I am finishing a class Games In Learning and Assessment through UW-Stout. The class was a game, the player had to earn both quest and reward badges. It was created in Badgestack. Very cool way to learn.
