New Moodle Course Design - Romeo & Juliet

New Moodle Course Design - Romeo & Juliet | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

This is an outline of the Moodle course design that we have been working on at Perins. In this case this is with Lauren Austen (www.twitter.com/austentatiously) in the English department.

The Moodle course is trying to promote a more inquiry based approach to learning and to encourage staff to develop resources that encourage personalisation.

As part of that we have introduced new icons roughly based on Blooms Taxonomy.

We have used the OneTopic format and have reduced 12 or so lessons into 4 main question areas. We have also tried to tie in opportunities to use Mahara and for students to check progress using Moodle Task Checker.

Superb VLE and whiteboard resources

Superb VLE and whiteboard resources | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

Huge variety of interactive English grammar, listening and reading exercises and lessons. Free e-learning software downloads.

http://www.parapal-online.co.uk/parapal_demos.html has a suite of free software. The HotSpot task is great and can be SCORMed. The spelling feature that comes part of it is super for reinforcing key terms.

The http://www.parapal-online.co.uk/learning/demos/punctuation_scorm.zip is a template you can use to create really clever punctuation tasks that are also SCORMed. Show them to your English department and get them to suggest ideas.

Try the exercises out at http://www.parapal-online.co.uk/exercises/

Shakespeare Moodle glossary

Shakespeare Moodle glossary | Moodle and Mahara | Scoop.it

I have been working with Lauren Austen @austentatiously in our English department on a new course layout using some of the ideas we have been trialling in Science.

This is a brief screencast (without sound) to show how we have developed a Glossary task to make it look a little more appealing on the eye.

The main reason for doing this was that the students will be using and adding to the glossary as part of their topic.

Notice that the glossary has a series of links at the bottom to www.screenr.com recordings that explain to students how to do different (or more developed) features when submitting an item.
