Mono-live: Soon Can Taste The Dishes You See On TV! Thanks To This Amazing Technology!! | Mono-live | Scoop.it

What if you could enjoy live food that chefs cook at the cooking shows on TV? It is precisely the purpose of a team of researchers based in Singapore who invented electrodes capable of recreating not less than four tastes on your tongue!

More interesting isn’t it? The Scientist based in Singapore namely Nimesha Ranasinghe and his team have developed a new kind of electrodes which can recreate the taste of virtual foods on the taste buds of the tongue. These electrodes are able to recreate the four main flavors taste (salty, sweet, acidity and bitterness) stimulating the taste buds when placed on the tongue.

The electrodes made with silver residues send signals reproducing these 4 different flavors on the tip of the tongue. The buds are then deceived by alternating currents and temperature changes controlled by semiconductor elements which can produce heat and cold very quickly. Ranasinghe told that they found that non-invasive electrical and thermal stimulation on the tip of the tongue can successfully generated the primary taste sensations.

Mono-live: Samsung Be The First Producing 3D Vertical NAND Flash With 1 Terabit : technology news | technology and gadgets | Mono-live | Scoop.it
rajkumar's insight:

After more than ten years of research, Samsung managed to conventional flash memory with 3D structures to public. Even earlier the chips have only 16 GB of capacity, but that should change soon. Almost simultaneously with the crossbar of RRAM also flash leader Samsung has announced a breakthrough in the production of non-volatile semiconductor memories. The company continues to further increase capacity on three-dimensional structures, but they are configured differently than the Trigates from Intel. Said Samsung "3D NAND Vertical" or NAND V-method is based on the new etching method, can be constructed with up to 24 layers of the memory devices with conventional NAND flash. In this case, proprietary cell structures are used. That the cells are described but unlike most flash memory, Samsung has already mentioned. The company uses the method "Charge Trap Flash" already in some other chips is used since 2002. The cell is first filled with a load and is not directly, and then the controller would have to wait, but the information is previously stored in a charge trap.

Mono-live: Cross bar's RRAM 20 times faster than flash memory!: technology news | technology and gadgets | Mono-live | Scoop.it
rajkumar's insight:
The U.S. startup Crossbar has introduced a new, non-volatile memory technology based on resistive RAM (RRAM). Up to 1 TB should be possible to save on a chip, which is 20 times faster than flash memory, and consumes significantly less power. Since 2010 Crossbar operates in secret to his version of Resistive RAM (RRAM), a promising memory technology that could replace flash memory. Crossbar is based on research by the University of Michigan, whose patents acquired crossbar in this area. Professor Wei Lu of the University of Michigan is the co-founded Crossbar. Now the company itself is development well and opens to the public. Crossbar RRAM is to be superior in terms of flash memory storage density, speed and power consumption. Thus, the company promises to accommodate up to 1 TB on a single chip with 200 square millimeters. The chips are stacked, should be capable of the same area store multiple terabytes. It is RRAM that is about 20 times faster than conventional NAND-type flash and that is close to the speed of RAM, promises Crossbar.

Mono-live: Microsoft Slams Google for Revealing Windows 8.1 Bug | Mono-live | Scoop.it
rajkumar's insight:

It has been just another example of a competitive business world when Google has revealed the bug involved in Windows 8.1 by Microsoft. Both giant companies Google and Windows got on the wrong sides with each other on 11th of January 2015 when Google as a part of their Project Zero revealed a Windows 8.1 bug to the entire public. (Project Zero is a 90 day grace period that Google gives any software company compelling them to rectify or improve the flaws to improve the web or computers to be more secure to use and also to users.

Now if that is not met by the software companies, Google makes the flaws pubic). In this instance Google pre notified Microsoft of the flaw or the bug as we say on the 11th of October 2014 allowing Microsoft to get the bug fixed by 11th of January 2015 after which Project Zero would be what Google would resort to however since this was not fixed Google made the flaws pubic. Despite all this Chris Betz who is the chief of Microsoft Security Response Centre was found stating in a blog that Microsoft asked Google to hold off revealing the mistake/flaw for a couple of days more as they needed to develop a fix for the issue.

Mono-live: NASA unveils the first robot Super Ball Bot for landing on Titan, a moon of Saturn | Mono-live | Scoop.it
rajkumar's insight:

NASA multiplies space exploration and it has unveiled a new kind of robot that will be able to lie on the floor of Titan, Saturn's moon, thanks to its particularly amazing abilities. Super Ball Bot is the new prototype rover designed by NASA. Whose main purpose will be to successfully land on Titan, one of Saturn's moons. Indeed, the agency is not limited only to missions lunar and Martian exploration but also wants to gather data about other stellar objects in our solar system.

In this case, the observation of Titan is interesting since the satellite has many features common to Earth, even if it is more akin to a primitive version of our planet. One of the main similarities is the climate on the surface of Titan; since the winds are present and form dunes, hills and cliffs. Quite surprising it that also has seasonal changes as such of Earth. Super Ball Bot represents the first fruits of this exploration mission. And he also has very special characteristics: it is completely designed with only limps.

Mono-live: LG to launch 8.3-inch G Pad tablet at IFA 2013: technology news | technology and gadgets | Mono-live | Scoop.it

LG presented the new Android tablet 8.3 inch LG at IFA, and is impressed by the quality of its full HD screen and slim design. Announced earlier this week, the LG G Pad 8.3 inch has not received much attention. We had to wait to discover the IFA for the first returns begin to happen. They are unanimously enthusiastic, citing a tablet to rival to the two references that are mini iPad and the new Nexus 7. For starters, its compact design (8.3 mm thick, 12.6 cm wide) and weight (338 grams) make, according to testers, it is also easy gripping a 7-inch tablet. Enthusiasm for the quality of the screen, the first of this size to be displayed in full HD 1920x1200 pixels. Very good return for your investment as the performance of the tablet, and torque processor (Snapdragon 600 quadruple heart 1.7 GHz) - RAM 2 GB provides good comfort. The internal storage of 16 GB can be expanded via a microSD card. There is QPair application to connect to a Smartphone via Bluetooth to receive text messages and make calls. That compensates for the lack of a 3G version. In fact, the only downside is the presence of Android 4.2.2 instead of the latest version 4.3. We hope soon they will correct this failure in their next update. LG G pad 8.3  will arrive soon and could be one of the best sellers of this season, provided that its price has not been disclosed, but it  is sufficiently competitive.

Mono-live: Transparent speaker made from artificial muscle: technology news | technology and gadgets | Mono-live | Scoop.it

Jeong- Yun Sun and Christoph Keplinger have found an ion conductive material stretchable, transparent and biocompatible. It is made up of gel and rubber. This speaker is completely made of a transparent thin film of rubber sandwiched between two layers of gel, consisting, inter alia, saltwater and the latter act as electrodes. When the gel layers are traversed by an electric signal, the rubber disc shrinks and expands successively, and very quickly. This vibratory movement then emits high frequency sounds in the same way as would a speaker can do. This transparent model can reproduce all the sounds in the audible range of human hearing, i.e. 20 Hz to 20 kHz, as shown in this video. They are not yet to come into your living room next to equip a stereo. Jeong- Yun Sun and colleagues at SEAS (Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences) built this prototype primarily as a technology demonstrator. Their goal is to show that it is possible to transit electric charges and therefore produce a stream of pulses by using not by electrons as usual, but the ions. This experience of Harvard University, Massachusetts is a major step in the development of the technology of ionic conduction. Indeed, researchers have managed the feat twice to develop a device that not only withstand high voltages, but also is able to change its structure very quickly.
