Nantes, a city in the western part of France, is getting ready to roll out a complementary currency which will allow citizens to exchange goods and services without the use of official money.

Comment: This appears to be an official project supported by the city administration and, perhaps significantly, the Mayor of Nantes, Jean-Marc Ayrault, has recently become the Prime Minister of France. The idea and technical support come from Italy. Two professors of Bocconi University in Milan, Massimo Amato and Luca Fantacci are the brains behind the project.
