The Disruptive Potential of 3D Printing - Accenture

The Disruptive Potential of 3D Printing - Accenture | Modern Life | Scoop.it

Digital technology clearly has become a momentous disruptor of traditional business paradigms, as well as an enabler of new business approaches and customer relationships. This is why, according to Cisco Systems Inc., there is an estimated $14.4 trillion in “digital disruption dollars” up for grabs between now and 2022. Accenture believes that digital supply networks are the backbone of this new ecosystem: worldwide conduits that streamline and accelerate the exchange of products, materials, components and (perhaps most important) information. We also believe 3D printing is an ideal illustration of the digital supply network’s vast potential

Social Media Publishing is dead (as we know it)

Social Media Publishing is dead (as we know it) | Modern Life | Scoop.it
Earlier this month, Facebook dropped a bombshell by not only acknowledging that Facebook pages’ organic reach was declining but also by telling us we shouldn’t expect them to recover. Facebook’s VP of Product for Facebook Ads, Brian Boland, went on to explain that this is the new world we live in now, that the same thing happened with search engines before and that we’d better get used to it. It’s true that many platforms go through a similar cycle: first, they present a great free opportunity, then more and more people grab it - decreasing the return for everyone until finally, the platform focuses on those ready to pay for play. What modern-day social innovators can learn from the life and times of St. Benedict

What modern-day social innovators can learn from the life and times of St. Benedict | Modern Life | Scoop.it

About a year ago a group of people close to Edgeryders and to me dreamed up something called the unMonastery. The dream snowballed into the prototype of a radical, uncompromising project: more or less, build an institution to embed global expert knowledge aimed at the common good into a local community, and do it so that it lasts a couple of centuries at least. Don’t try to build sustainability via a business models (business models are flimsy, they just don’t last over that time scale), build it through a kind of symbiosis between the unMonastery and the host city. Against all odds, this idea has come true, and you can apply to be an unMonasterian right now.
