Teaching Economic Dynamism | Modern Learning Practice | Scoop.it
Business leaders often argue that the widening education gap – the disparity »»
Derek Wenmoth's insight:

I love this article - especially this paragraph:

"But the case for STEM education is even more fundamentally flawed, because it treats an economy as an equation. According to this logic, job creation is a matter of slotting humans into identifiable opportunities, and economic growth is a matter of increasing the stock of human or physical capital, while exploiting scientific advances. This is a dark view of modern economies, and a depressing blueprint for the future."

Apple and Google’s shiny new products are the beginnings of a …
Derek Wenmoth's insight:

The world of wearable technology continues to develop and expand - no idea really what will 'stick' and what may pass as a fad, but the certainty is that some form(s) of technology that are far more integrated into what we wear will be an everyday part of the lives of many  of our students (if not all, eventually) into the future. Our response as educators and as systems will require a significant re-think about how we engage and educate learners in a world where access to information/knowledge is 'always on and always available' .

It should not surprise anyone to know that one of the most consistent findings in educational research demonstrates that the more times students spend engaged during instruction, the more they learn (Gettinger & Ball, 2007).
