Mobile learning has clearly made its mark on the corporate world. With Smartphones being used to access so much content daily, adopting mobile as a training resource was inevitable. But is it possible that some organizations have been too hasty in adding mobile to their basket of performance support tools without really thinking it through?

Smartphone is pretty rubbish for extended blocks of learning, but fantastic for just-in-time support (which ends up being learning). Nothing more mobile.

Yesterday at work with had a health representative perform an in-service on opti-flow humidification units.  It was very interesting as at the end of the presentation he concluded by saying:  'you can download an app onto your iphone  which provides this education and problem solving for this machine (I had to find out what's special about iphones).  

 

I was amazed how technology has changed how you get educated in the workplace.

1. Flipping the class does not mean lectures. How about asking learners to watch a video and think about a couple of leading questions in preparation for class?

2. BYOD is not going to stop. Keep the pedagogy first and the technology simple. (this also sorts 3.)

4. I agree 1:1 is tech driven teaching.

5. Agreed. Parents often teach kids the wrong stuff *imagines caveman riding a dinosaur*
