Universal Design Learning is a framework for learning that includes all students. Being grounded in socio-cultural theory, UDL views learning environments and social interactions as being key elements in development and learning. In UDL students are allowed to express their learning in a variety of ways. The key principles driving UDL include flexibility, simple and intuitive instruction, multiple means of presentation, success oriented curriculum, appropriate level of student effort, and appropriate environment for learning.

Are we taking away the challenge of learning to learn?  How well will a student do in life long learning if everything has been delivered under UDL while in formal learning.

One way of working out what your school is for is to look at the attributes you seek to instil in your graduates.

Interestingly, a new generation of attributes is emerging. The previous generation's emphasis on 'knowing' or 'having [ x ] skills' is being replaced by capability statements like 'innovative, creative, adaptable".

Online university education programmes, and massive open online courses – MOOCs – in particular, may be considered disruptive technological developments with the potential to be useful in the struggle to address the challenges of higher education in the 21st century. But this will only be realised if we avoid the twin evils of cynicism and evangelism.

Good points here. Once mature MOOCs are likely to contribute, rather then resolve the current issue of inequality and profit-driven education. Collaboration may be the answer but is it realistic to ask capitalism to let this one slide by?
