Google Nexus 5 Contract Deals Launched on O2 | mobile phones | Scoop.it
The brand new Google Nexus 5 by LG has been released on O2 contract deals in the UK, consumers can now buy the Nexus 5 with pay monthly offers starting from just £12 per month.
PhonesLimited's insight:

The latest in Google’s Nexus range of smart phones has today been released on O2 contract deals in the UK, the new Google Nexus 5 which like the Nexus 4 is manufactured by LG has now been officially launched allowing consumers can now order online.

Google Nexus 5 by LG deals

Sitting just beneath the recently launched LG G2 in terms of specifications, the new Nexus 5 offers a slightly smaller 5 inch, 1080 x 1920 pixel full HD display, a 8 mega pixel camera rather than 13mp, is run by the same powerful 2.26 quad-core processor with separate graphics chip and 2GB of RAM but surprisingly is actually smaller and lighter then the previous Google Nexus 4 despite having a larger display.

Further features include LTE support for 4G networks, wireless charging, bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI out via a slimport and the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, of course the biggest selling point of all Nexus devices is that they have priority in receiving the very latest Android updates when released.

All of this is powered by a 2300mAh battery and the overall dimensions are 138 x 69 x 8.6mm with a weight of 130g, the nexus 5 is available now in black and white colour schemes and further network releases are expected over the coming days.

Samsung To Unveil The Galaxy S3 Mini Tomorrow In Germany « Mobile Phones & Deals UK

Samsung To Unveil The Galaxy S3 Mini Tomorrow In Germany « Mobile Phones & Deals UK | mobile phones | Scoop.it

You are probably aware of the success of the Samsung Galaxy S3 this year. Since it was launched in May, it has been the best selling smartphone on the market, and still holds the top spot in a number of countries, despite devices like the Apple iPhone 5 proving to be stiff competition.

A new smaller version called the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is soon to be launched. At an event to be held in Germany tomorrow, the Galaxy S3 Mini will be unveiled. A little while ago, Samsung sent out invitations to a press event, but there was no mention of the products involved. It has now been confirmed that the event will indeed be for the Galaxy S3 Mini.

The device will pack a 4 inch screen which is 0.8 inches smaller than that of the Galaxy S3 along with a few other downgraded features to save space. Rather than 8 megapixels, the camera will have a resolution of 5 megapixels. The processor will get the same treatment. Instead of the 1.4GHz quad-core powerhouse of the Samsung Galaxy S3, the mini version will get a dual-core processor instead.

While these features may not sound as appealing as those of the Galaxy S3, Samsung insists that there is high demand for a more compact version in Europe. The software is a more up to date on the Galaxy S3 Mini than it is on the current Galaxy S3. The current version ships with the Android Ice Cream sandwich operating system, although it will soon be receiving an update to the new Jellybean platform along with its predacessor the Galaxy S2. The Galaxy S3 Mini will have this software as standard, making it the first Samsung Devices to ship with the software.

It is expected that the Galaxy S3 Mini will sell well, given the fact that the smartphone market is now dominated by devices were have much larger screens than we have been used in previous years.

Apple iPhone 5 Black & Slate – Features, Design and Upgrades « Mobile Phones & Deals UK

Apple iPhone 5 Black & Slate – Features, Design and Upgrades « Mobile Phones & Deals UK | mobile phones | Scoop.it

The much hyped launch event of the new Apple iPhone 5 has now been and gone and it’s time to round up all of the notable new features, hardware and design to see if you will be investing in Apple’s new generation iPhone when contract deals are released.

Apple iPhone 5 16GB Black & Slate
First things first – availability!
We are expecting iPhone 5 contract deals to be launched for pre-order as of tomorrow (Friday 14th September), judging from the initial SIM free prices quoted by Apple it looks like prices will be exactly the same as when the iPhone 4S was first launched so expect the 16GB Apple iPhone 5 to be available from free at around £36 and upwards.

Design – How has it changed?
The new iPhone is to be released in two colour schemes but this time around they are not simply called black and white, the Apple iPhone 5 in all of its memory formats (ie: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB) will be sold in Black and Slate plus White and Silver, the slate and silver names relate to the back panels of the phones which are a different shade to the main housing – a big design change from the iPhone 4S with its all over colour scheme.

iPhone 5 vs iPhone 4S
The first thing you’ll notice about the new iPhone is although it looks very similar to the previous model (and is in terms of width!) it has been elongated to incorporate its larger touch screen display, Apple have said that the design is suit to the hand and that stretching the screen wider would make for a harder to hold device, we guess it would unless you had big hands!

The iPhone 5 is manufactured using glass and aluminium, this sets it apart from the masses of smart phones which are mainly made up of plastic in their housings, this also strips a significant weight from the previous 4S model, down from 140g to just 112g! Apple are also dubbing the iPhone 5 as being the slimmest smart phone in the world, this accolade was previously held by the HTC One S at 7.8mm thin but Apple have beaten this by 0.2mm down to just 7.6mm!

The new, larger screen – About time!
Expanded from 3.5 inches up to 4 inches the main touch screen is now a 1136 x 640 pixel resolution Retina display with a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating, this is still significantly smaller than many of its rivals like the 4.8 inch Samsung Galaxy S3 and 4.7 inch HTC One X but Apple are claiming it is “the most advanced and accurate display in the industry”.

They claim to have removed a layer of the screen so that the touch sensors are integrated right into the display itself for even more intricate touch sensitivity, the new larger area also means that there are now 5 rows of applications on the homescreen.

The camera – the same but better?
It is the same sensor and f/2.4 aperture in the 8 mega pixel camera of the previous iPhone 4S but the 5 has a new dynamic low light mode for capturing far netter shots at night, there’s also a new image processor which features a ‘smart filter’ which reduces ‘noise’ in pictures and video, a panoramic mode has also been added. The front facing camera used for Facetime (video calling) has also been upgraded and is now capable of streaming 720p HD video for much clearer and crisper conversations.

Processing and power, just how fast is it?
The chip has been upgraded from the A5 to the A6 which Apple are saying is twice as fast, this also improves graphics plus load time of apps and web pages as well as speeding up the whole user experience.

The new iOS6 – Faster and simpler!
As well as the new A6 processor the iPhone 5 features the latest iOS6 operating software which work together for extra power efficiency, iOS6 adds in a further 200 new features including a new and improved Siri service, Facetime over 3G, an all new Maps app with turn by turn navigation, real time traffic updates and Flyover with 3D imaging.

Connections – An even faster iPhone?
The iPhone 5 allows for LTE connectivity and although not quite launched in the UK it promises speeds of up to 100mbps! Apple have also introduced what they call ‘ultrafast wireless’ alongside 802.11a/b/g/n, 2.4GHz, dual channel 5GHz Wi-Fi technology.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Garnet Red Deals Released in the UK | mobile phones | Scoop.it

After a successful début on the AT&T network in the U.S. the third colour scheme of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has now had contract deals launched in the UK, the new Garnet Red edition joins the Marble White and Pebble Blue colour schemes in the range with even more variants of the Galaxy S3 being readied for release by Samsung, these include the Sapphire Black, Titanium Grey and Amber Brown models.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Red Deals
The new Garnet Red Samsung Galaxy S3 can now be ordered with T-Mobile deals and is available from free at £36 line rental per month, this is a little more expensive than the other two colours of the phone but we expect these contracts to get cheaper over the coming days as the competition secure their stocks.

Exhibiting all of the same amazing functionality as the other colour schemes in the Samsung Galaxy S3 range, the Garnet Red edition only changes the colour of the outer casing keepingf all of the same features and design in tact.

This means a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED HD touch screen, an 8 mega pixel camera with loads of imaging features, the Android 4.0 operating software and Samsung’s own new features including S-Voice, S-Beam and a host of other exciting additions.

We’ve no confirmed news as yet as to when the other three colour schemes are due to be released but will update you as soon as we hear anything!
