Acer's Liquid S2 Phablet Arrives Early at 4K Party

Acer's Liquid S2 Phablet Arrives Early at 4K Party | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"The Android phablet will run on 4G LTE networks and operate on the WiFi 802.11 ac standard. It also boasts dual speakers powered by Dolby Digital Plus.

Gorilla Glass 3.0 from Corning provides a scratch- and shatter-resistant curved screen that creates an edgeless feel around the rim of the smartphone. Its Zero Air Gap Display, meanwhile, removes air between the touch panel and the LCD module to improve the touchscreen function and make the screen more readable in sunlight."

Acer announces 5.7-inch Liquid S1 with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Acer is venturing into new device territory with the announcement of its latest Android-powered smartphone called the Liquid S1. It’s the Taiwan-based company’s first proper “phablet” in that it features a 5.7-inch 720p HD touchscreen display. Between that and its attractive exterior, it’s sure to get a lot of attention when it finally comes out. But will it really impress?

Part of the Acer Liquid S1′s full list of features are a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU, an 8-megapixel rear camera, DTS Studio Sound, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. And according to the official press release, it will have “a day’s worth” of battery life. Plus, it also includes several nifty software features."

Hands-on with Acer’s Aspire R7.. strangest convertible PC we’ve ever seen

Hands-on with Acer’s Aspire R7.. strangest convertible PC we’ve ever seen | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Whatever your feelings about Windows 8, there's no question that it (along with external threats from devices like tablets) has spurred PC makers to get more inventive than they've been in years. Not all of the convertible laptops built for the new operating system have been home runs, but after years of seeing the same designs get slightly thinner and slightly cheaper with every new iteration, the form has given PC OEMs some real opportunities to differentiate themselves."

Acer.. the unique Aspire R7, the Aspire V5 and V7 Ultrabooks, thinner, faster | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Today during Acer‘s press event in New York City, the company outed a ton of new products, including the quite unique Aspire R7 convertible all-in-one laptop of sorts. However, if it’s a traditional design you’re after, Acer released the Aspire V5 and V7 Ultrabooks like that offer a thinner design than previous models and of course faster hardware on the inside."

Acer Aspire R7.. the unique abilities review

Acer Aspire R7.. the unique abilities review | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"The Acer machine you’re about to see is rather unique – it’s got what the group calls an “Ezel” hinge, made to expand the units abilities beyond that of the average notebook or desktop. Here we’re using Windows 8 in combination with Acer’s hardware to add another chapter to the unofficial List of Touchscreen Computer Configurations, this time with a display that moves up, folds back, and becomes nearly flat, lifts up and sits vertical or horizontal, and in one particular setup looks strikingly similar to the U.S.S. Enterprise from Star Trek.

Acer Aspire R7 Hands-on.. Spock's Choice

Acer Aspire R7 Hands-on.. Spock's Choice | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"This week SlashGear is having a peek at the Acer Aspire R7 notebook – that rather unique piece of machinery you saw advertised last month asideteasers for the newest Star Trek movie. It’s no surprise that this device was chosen to take on that role as its mysterious – and here we find rather enticing – abilities allow it to look like a rather familiar starship. With Acer’s “Ezel” hinge, the Aspire R7 can take on several shapes – including that of the Kirk-captained Enterprise."

Acer Aspire R7 notebook flips, twists, and folds on new “Ezel” hinge | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Acer held a presser today in New York City and revealed some new devices coming to consumer shortly. The most interesting of them all is the Aspire R7, which is a convertible all-in-one laptop of sorts, but it’s quite different than what you’re probably used to, as the display can move around in all sorts of ways, thanks to Acer’s new “Ezel” hinge."

Acer Iconia A1-810 outted.. takes aim at the iPad Mini

Acer Iconia A1-810 outted.. takes aim at the iPad Mini | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Acer will be releasing another tablet to join the ranks of the Nexus 7 and the iPad Mini in terms of size and form-factor. While some may say that Acer is a little late to the game, it is very clear that high-powered, smaller tablets will always appeal to consumers.

The Acer Iconia A1-810 will sport a 7.9-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 768, putting it right on par with the iPad Mini’s display and only slightly inferior to the Nexus 7’s offering."

Acer Liquid E1 brings smooth PC aesthetics to Android

Acer Liquid E1 brings smooth PC aesthetics to Android | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"This week there’s a brand new Android smartphone on the block, the Acer Liquid E1, complete with a unique set of casings and the near-newest version of Android onboard. This smartphone is ready for the top of the mid-range with a 4.5-inch display that’s bringing in 540 x 960 pixel resolution and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. This smartphone is clearly not meant to go to war with the highest-power smartphones on the market today, instead making certain Acer is able to deliver an Android device that’s up-to-date with what the Android universe is offering in general, so to speak."

Acer Aspire TimelineU M5 Review

Acer Aspire TimelineU M5 Review | Mobile IT | Scoop.it
More than last year, 2012's ultrabooks have been and will continue to be about tradeoffs: low-res screens vs. high-res, snappy SSDs vs. capacious HDDs, power-sipping IGPs vs. muscle-bound GPUs, and so on.

Acer's new TimelineU makes its own compromises. Our review unit touts a full-size backlit keyboard, 500GB of storage, a GeForce GT 640M LE GPU, an optical drive, an eight-hour battery life and an attractive $830 price tag. Naturally, the question is: what's the catch? Let's get to the bottom of that...
