Porsche Design and RIM have resurrected the P’9981, the expensive love-it-or-hate-it smartphone that redresses BlackBerry 7 in an angular metal suit, this time in black. The new P’9981 Black has the same touchscreen and QWERTY combo as the silver version we reviewed back in February, as well as a 5-megapixel camera embedded in a leather-covered back, but Porsche Design claims the matte finish case is actually more in keeping with its racing car heritage than the original.

The PlayBook 4G LTE is an advance on other tablets in certain respects, and is equal to most of the others, and it can easily hold its head up with its current competitors...

 

"The PlayBook 4G LTE looks and runs like the original Playbook — it’s the same size as the original and operates in much the same way, and uses the same QNX operating system (now called PlayBook OS). There is only one external giveaway that this is the second-generation model: a tiny drawer for the device carrier’s SIM card, which is what allows the PlayBook to talk to data networks via high-speed HSPA and LTE networks."

"As far as Blackberry 10 handsets are concerned, we know that RIM has at least one handset that will feature a physical QWERTY keyboard. Given that their physical keyboards on Blackberry phones were what made the handset so popular (amongst other things), we guess RIM is hoping to keep tradition alive for Blackberry 10. While we have yet to see the final look of RIM’s Blackberry 10 handset with a physical keyboard, the DigitalHomeBoy has come up with a concept rendering of what he thinks RIM’s Blackberry 10 handset should look like with a keyboard."
