HTC 8XT brings BoomSound July 19th, ATIV Odyssey tags along today

HTC 8XT brings BoomSound July 19th, ATIV Odyssey tags along today | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"It’s not the most one-shot of launches, but it would appear that these brothers-in-arms from HTC and Samsung are headed to the market together to bring Windows Phone 8 to the masses this summer. While Samsung aims for a slightly more familiar face with the ATIV Odyssey starting today (online) for its 4G LTE-slinging US Cellular iteration, the HTC device will have to wait a bit longer. But what HTC brings to the party may just be worth that wait.."

Nokia Lumia 521.. review

Nokia Lumia 521.. review | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"If you thought the Nokia Lumia 520 was good, boy are you going to have a great time with the Nokia Lumia 521. Essentially the same device as you’ll be getting internationally, this T-Mobile iteration of the entry-level Windows Phone 8 device brings the same package (with slightly different radio connections and a few extra apps) to the USA, here with the same bright white back cover..."

Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8.. little brother of the Mega 6.3 review | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"It seems as if Samsung is on a quest to offer a smartphone in just about every size. While many don’t like big phones like the Note 2, Samsung decided to go even further with the Galaxy Mega 5.8, the little brother of the Galaxy Mega 6.3, which is easily one of the largest smartphones on the market."

Top 5 Smartphones 2013.. T-Mobile

Top 5 Smartphones 2013.. T-Mobile | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"T-Mobile has stepped up its game recently in an effort to compete with Verizon, AT&T and Sprint in the United States. The carrier recently announced 4G LTE service in seven  markets, and many customers will find that their phones will fall back to its still fastHSPA+ network where LTE isn’t available. In addition, several of its new handsets offer HD voice support to other HD-voice enabled devices, and calling over Wi-Fi networks. That’s not all.."

The HTC One Google Play edition offers the best of both worlds.. review

The HTC One Google Play edition offers the best of both worlds.. review | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"So far, 2013 has brought with it a number of changes to Google's Android strategy. More and more apps and services are being separated from the core of the operating system to allow for easier updating. Google didn't take advantage of Google I/O to announce a new version of Android, and what we've seen of the rumored version 4.3 suggests that it will be a relatively minor update. And Google is working with its partners to sell versions of their high-end smartphones that run stock Android instead of those partners' respective Android skins."

HTC One S no longer receiving updates.. but it's only 15 months old?

HTC One S no longer receiving updates.. but it's only 15 months old? | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Though the HTC One S is still a young phone at just over a year old, its update cycle has come to an end. HTC tells us that the One S will no longer be receiving updates, keeping it on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and Sense 4+ at the latest. The phone's 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of RAM should have made it powerful enough to handle any Android releases coming down the pipeline right now, but.."

Huawei PRISM II coming to T-Mobile: all naming conventions coincidental | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"The Huawei PRISM II is coming to T-Mobile, this a smartphone that succeeds a relatively unknown original with the same carrier from months past. This device is not aiming to break the bank, nor is it headed to the top of the “must have” lists of any top-tier hero phone collects lists. Huawei Ascend P6 hands-on (Just don't ask about Beauty Shot) | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Huawei’s new flagship is here, the Ascend P6, and the Chinese company has high hopes for the super-slim 6.18mm Android smartphone. The press conference may have been full of hyperbole, but in the hand the Ascend P6 is undeniably appealing: there’s something about waifish smartphones that still tickles the gear-lust parts of the average geek. There have been some compromises along the way to achieve those dimensions, though; read on for our first-impressions."

"With a Samsung multi-device event coming up on the 20th of June, it’s no surprise that several machines have begun to surface well before their official unveiling. Today’s suggestion is that there’ll be at least one smartphone running Samsung’s own non-Android operating system Tizen. Is that a Monkey King in your pocket?! | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"You’ve probably never heard of ThL, but after today, you may not forget them.

The Chinese mobile device maker has introduced a new phone with some impressive specs, and an even more impressive name. In regard to those internals, the standout feature is a 13MP front-facing camera, for those self-conscious “selfie” takers out there. Couple that with a 13MP rear-facing camera, and this one is a double edged sword for photo enthusiasts."

BlackBerry Q5.. review

BlackBerry Q5.. review | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"BlackBerry needs a new smartphone for the mass market, and the BlackBerry Q5 is its attempt to deliver. Cheaper than the Q10, though offering another sturdy QWERTY keyboard for text-addicts, the Q5 pares back the specifications (and, it has to be said, the design) to boost the BlackBerry 10 line-up by 50-percent."

Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S4 Active

Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. Samsung Galaxy S4 Active | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"The Samsung Galaxy S4 has only been available for three months now, and as expected, it’s been met with critical acclaim. And now, we have another device joining the Galaxy S4 family — Samsung’s Galaxy S4 Active, a rugged, and better handling version of the S4.

While there wasn’t a huge bevy of changes, the Galaxy S4 Active might just be appealing to those who shied away from getting themselves an original Galaxy S4."

Galaxy S3 vs Nexus 4 vs iPhone 5 | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"All three of these handsets are getting on now as they came out last year. The Samsung Galaxy has been a very popular device, while the Apple iPhone 5, which came out in September attracted iOS fans. The LG Nexus 4 was a huge hit as it sold out as soon as it came into the Google Play Store. All three of the handsets remain in people’s hands today, even though newer handsets have now made their way out."

Lenovo ThinkPad Helix.. review

Lenovo ThinkPad Helix.. review | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Lenovo has big plans with Windows 8, convertible laptops and Ultrabooks, and more but one that caught our eye at CES was the ThinkPad Helix. With a fancy design, versatility, and an 11.6-inch 1080p display it’s quite the device. After a few delays the ThinkPad Helix is finally available today, so we’re taking it for a full spin in its retail form. Is the nearly $1,700 base price tag worth it?"

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs HTC One

Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs HTC One | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"The HTC One received plenty of praise when it launched, primarily because of its eye-catching metallic unibody design. But it’s not just a one-trick handset as the phone also sports plenty of power from a Qualcomm 600 processor, a customised interface, good battery life and audio technology, a super-sharp touch display and a set of quirky camera tech to boot."

MacBook Air 13-inch Review (mid-2013)

MacBook Air 13-inch Review (mid-2013) | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Apple’s value-proposition for the 2013 MacBook Air is simple: the same sleek ultraportable notebook as before, but lasting much longer. A switch to Intel’s latest Haswell processor architecture and a slightly larger battery takes runtime up to twelve hours versus the seven hour estimate of its predecessor, while a new type of flash storage promises even quicker boot times, resume, and file access. Is this the MacBook to own?"

Huawei Ascend P6 official.. 6.18mm thick and aiming for your iPhone

Huawei Ascend P6 official.. 6.18mm thick and aiming for your iPhone | Mobile IT | Scoop.it

"Huawei has officially announced the Ascend P6, the Chinese company’s attempt to muscle in on the flagship tier of Android smartphones. 6.18mm thick – Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu was keen to point out that the P6 name isn’t a pre-emptive strike again Apple’s iPhone 6, but a reference to the dimensions – is the company’s first full-metal-body handset and, according to the company, is inspired by paper rather than, as some have observed, the iPhone 5."
