Teacher vs Student: How Each Actually Uses Social Media | Mobile Devices for learning | Scoop.it

Both teachers and students use it pretty actively, and it can easily be used in the classroom. Do you agree? What do you think is the most ‘all-around’ social media platform for both teachers and students (in and out of class)?

This article is interesting and should be top of mind for any training organisation that wants to employ social media in the delivery of it's training programs.

I have been working with the use of technology in the delivery and management of education and training programs since the late 80's and am constantly amazed by my 7 year old grandson as he goes about do things like logging onto the Leggo website to access a plan so as he can build a new "something" in Leggo etc.

I utilize the page function in Facebook, however, have been told that Edmodo functions in a similar way.

Tracey Healey's curator insight, October 28, 2013 5:24 AM

Very true - having a 20 year old uni student daughter I can see the comparisons.

So I thought I’d share 10 iPad and iPhone apps I love for helping elementary students with reading and writing skills. The majority of the recommendations below work with multiple grade levels and are free, but the paid ones are worth the investment, in my opinion."

Why Teachers Should Consider Blogging

Scoop.it and I fell in love at first glance.

Tim Pixley's curator insight, March 13, 2013 7:57 AM

I agree!  Once you find the right curators and develop relationships with them, they turn into mentors. Some of them are very successful, industry experts, and deeply respected.  Some material gets put out months before they're covered in a college class.  The trick is to be discerning as to what is merely a fad versus a long-term trend. ;)

Book Creator 2.4 for iPad Allows You To Combine Books

Book Creator 2.4 for iPad Allows You To Combine Books | Mobile Devices for learning | Scoop.it
Earlier this month I wrote a glowing review of the Book Creator iPad app. Book Creator allows you to create narrated books on your iPad. Today, Book Creator 2.4 was releasedwith some nice new tools.

The latest version of Book Creator allows you to combine books that you have created using the app. In fact, you can even combine books from multiple iPads. What this means is that you could have students work on the creation of a book together from separate iPads. Have each student work on a chapter then combine all of the chapters into one book. Click here for complete directions on combining books
