Chaatz – A New Messaging App Targeting Emerging Markets : Web, Mobile & Big Data Blog
Messaging apps are all the rage right now, and many of them are incorporating other services such as games and commerce as they inch closer toward becoming platforms. It’s getting more difficult to stand out among the competition, but yet another messaging app has just joined the party.
What’s interesting though is that this new messaging app, Chaatz, is a refreshing antithesis of the feature-packed platforms that are trending on the market currently. Chaatz does not look impressive at first glance — its interface is simplistic and unattractive looks-wise — and it only has the basic features that form the backbone of chat apps: text messages, voice recordings, only 10 stickers and a handful of voice effects.

Google gave its Hangouts app for iOS a complete overhaul on Thursday — one that will look very familiar to users of other mainstream messaging apps.
The new iOS app includes tabs along the bottom of the screen with categories like Hangouts, Favorites, and Contacts, similar to other messaging apps like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.
The new version of Hangouts includes other features present in rival messaging apps, such as the ability to send videos, stickers, or your location within a conversation. Previously users were only allowed to send a photo.
What you need to know about WhatsApp’s rival Telegram : Web, Mobile & Big Data Blog
Ever since WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook, instant messaging loyalists have chosen to start looking out for alternatives already. The need to find another app to chat with was compounded when days after being acquired by Facebook, WhatsApp faced an outage of three hours.
Winning big in this race is a cross-platform messaging app called Telegram that has made privacy its selling point. You know the app means business when Telegram’s tagline itself is “Taking back our right to privacy”. Telegram is currently the no. 1 social networking app on the App Store in 46 countries, ahead of the likes of Facebook, Viber and even WhatsApp.
Why virtualisation isn’t enough in cloud computing : Web, Mobile & Big Data Blog
While it is generally recognised that virtualisation is an important step in the move to cloud computing, as it enables efficient use of the underlying hardware and allows for true scalability, for virtualisation in order to be truly valuable it really needs to understand the workloads that run on it and offer clear visibility of both the virtual and physical worlds.
On its own, virtualisation does not lend itself to creating sufficient visibility about the multiple applications and services running at any one time. For this reason a primitive automation system could cause a number of errors to occur, such as the spinning up of another virtual machine to offset the load on enterprise applications that are presumed to be overloaded.
