We are only beginning to see the applications of smart phones to improve peoples lives. In this TED talk, Paul Conneally explores some of the possibilities (citizen mapping, crowd-sourced disaster recovery, etc.) that is just sitting in the palm of our collective hands.

This is why ICT is important. No. Vital! Our students need to see things like this so that they understand the positive aspects of technology. My first impression was "why would you want an app that replicates traditional practices", but when I looked at this data notebook and the other products that SAS is offering for free, I was inspired to investigate this collection of apps more deeply. This App says Free for 24 hrs, so I'm not sure what the price is after promotion or how long the promotion will be, but I was very impressed with it and have emailed all my Ipad Volume Purchasing Faciliators to download it. It's a Sketchbook (like Penultimate) and you can't beat free for a DECENT app.

"One of the justifiable criticisms of the iPad was that it was difficult to impossible to transfer files between many apps or networks. With the addition of some apps like PocketCloud and FileBrowser, and the improvement of the Open in… function in later systems , especially iOS 6, this has become even less of an issue.
