5 Questions & Answers Shedding Light on How Americans Use Mobile Apps

5 Questions & Answers Shedding Light on How Americans Use Mobile Apps | mLearning, Social Media, eLearning, APPS, Communication and Public Participation Engagement Scoops | Scoop.it
Mobile has fast emerged as the primary platform for media consumption. However, as advertisers try to figure out how to best use mobile advertising to effectively reach their target audiences there is some hesitation around allocating budgets for mobile ad campaigns.
ET Russell's insight:

Suggestion:

Every agency should take this test before investing time and money into mobile applications.

Understand where and how your target audience is spending their time on mobile.

Then, develop an app that best meets their needs.

Example:

The U.S. Census Bureau and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are great examples of how agencies are putting these questions and answers to use. Their apps, Pop Quiz and Solve the Outbreak use games to connect hard-to-reach audiences with information they should know.

Mapping Twitter Topic Networks: From Polarized Crowds to Community Clusters | mLearning, Social Media, eLearning, APPS, Communication and Public Participation Engagement Scoops | Scoop.it
People connect to form groups on Twitter for a variety of purposes. The networks they create have identifiable contours that are shaped by the topic being discussed, the information and influencers driving the conversation, and the social network structures of the participants.
ET Russell's insight:

Interesting article outlining different ways that crowds and conversations   take place on twitter. It identifies how there are at least six distinctive structures of social media crowds which form depending on:

-the subject being discussed

-the information sources being cited

-the social networks of the people talking about the subject, and

-the leaders of the conversation.

And how each has a different social structure and shape:

-divided

-unified

-fragmented

-clustered, and

-inward and outward hub and spokes.

50 Apps That Clarify 50 New Ways To Learn - te@chthought | mLearning, Social Media, eLearning, APPS, Communication and Public Participation Engagement Scoops | Scoop.it

"Below we’ve gathered a diverse list of learning apps across iOS and Android from giants like Google, Apple, Microsoft, as well as upstarts like Brainfeed, The Sandbox, and Knowji. None of the apps are perfect, but each app does something special, and in that talent represents what’s possible as we careen towards 2020 and beyond.

Learning through play. Self-directed learning. Flipped learning. Mobile learning. Collaborative learning. Social learning. It’s all here. Alone, none offer the turn-key approach to education that textbooks have traditionally turned to. But this is a strength. As education technology grows, we can adapt to new learning models that take advantage of the fragmented but enormous potential of self-directed, creative, collaborative, and almost entirely mobile learning."
