Apple OSX Summary Service

Apple OSX Summary Service | MITS Tech Tips | Scoop.it

Apple OSX has a clever feature that will automatically summarize selected text. Are you in a hurry to read a webpage? The Summary Service can help!

To turn this feature on, simply navigate to System Preferences, Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts (tab), Services (left column) and check Summarize (scroll through right column).

To use this feature, open a web browser, and highlight some text. Navigate to the [Application Name] menu, found in the upper-left hand corner, right next to the small apple logo. Choose Services, and click Summarize. A summary of the text you highlighted will appear in a new window.

If the application you are using doesn't support summary services, you can copy the text to a TextEdit document and use the summary service there.

Here's a video that shows in detail how to use Summary Service. It gets technical towards the end, but the beginning is very helpful. * http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j27FuurNQXU
