Could Europe's New Grid Algorithm Black-out Belgium?

Could Europe's New Grid Algorithm Black-out Belgium? | MishMash | Scoop.it

RE ARE efficient solutionsA "flow-boosting" upgrade to Europe's power market algorithms, years in the making, is delayed again amid concerns that it could aggravate grid reliability problems.

André Michel's insight:

The explanation is quite simple. - Belgium DEPENDS from "other"

Countries and "other"  interests groups. Period

There ARE solutions, but no one think geopolitically and a

"transitional" period which will be tough for everybody, but necessary, and not only for Belgium.

New experimental, theoretical research could help make more efficient windows

New experimental, theoretical research could help make more efficient windows | MishMash | Scoop.it
By tightly integrating experimental and theoretical techniques, a Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory team has provided fundamentally new insights into the specific factors that determine the absorption characteristics of copper complexes.  The results demonstrate that conventional interpretations based on “ligand field theory” are insufficient for capturing the full characteristics of the absorption profile.

Making a Match: How Solar Companies and Banks Hook Up | MishMash | Scoop.it
The announcements are fairly frequent: SunPower Partners with Admirals Bank for $200 Million Solar Loan Program, Deutsche Bank to Lend $1 Billion for Japanese Solar Projects, Financing Partnerships Drive North Carolina's Solar Boom. The reasons for the deals are clear. Solar developers need money to build projects and rather than going to the bank again and again with deal after deal, it makes sense to have a financing partner and a set of criteria you need to meet already in place so that you c

Reshaping the solar spectrum to turn light into electricity: Infrared region of the sun's spectrum used to make solar cells more efficient | MishMash | Scoop.it
Solar energy could be made cheaper if solar cells could be coaxed to generate more power. A huge gain in this direction has been made by a team of chemists that has found an ingenious way to make solar energy conversion more efficient. The researchers combined inorganic semiconductor nanocrystals with organic molecules to 'upconvert' photons in the visible and near-infrared regions of the solar spectrum.
