Ana Cristina Pratas's curator insight, September 16, 2013 7:21 AM

Quick Key eliminates hand-grading of quizzes, tests, and formative assessments, even for teachers working in paper-based classrooms, without a computer. With Quick Key, you can spend your time addressing the different learning needs of your students, not messing around with grades and grade books. Quick Key is easy to use, and doesn't require you to change anything about how you teach. But you might, once you discover what you and your students can accomplish when assessment is effortless!

What does Quick Key do?

Quick Key turns your phone into an optical scanner to grade quizzes, tests, and surveys on paper, up to 30 questions long. Then, Quick Key allows you to run analytics right on your phone, then upload the data to your electronic grade book.

The access the full features of the Quick Key mobile suite, visit www.quickkeyapp.com from your computer browser.

5 Reasons Pinterest’s Search Engine Is Better Than Google’s

5 Reasons Pinterest’s Search Engine Is Better Than Google’s | Fiji 1916 | Scoop.it

Pinterest is a lifestyle searching tool for millions of people.

People go on there with excited eyes to look for amazing recipes to cook for dinner that weekend, find ways to dress to the tens for a special date, or find creative educational materials to teach children with.

Millions of users turn to Pinterest to enhance their lifestyle. And they are doing so by using the search function on Pinterest. Here’s a fun fact.

Did you know that Google has a search engine just for recipes? It’s been around for years, but almost nobody I know uses it.

Instead, most people I know automatically go to Pinterest if they want to find recipes to try out.

That’s not the only reason Pinterest is better than Google.

Here are 5 reasons why Pinterest’s search engine is better than Google.

These Interactive Maps Compare 19th Century American Cities to Today

These Interactive Maps Compare 19th Century American Cities to Today | Fiji 1916 | Scoop.it

" The Smithsonian Magazine recently dipped into David Rumsey's collection of over 150,000 maps to find some of the best representations of American cities over the past couple hundred years. With some simple programming, they were able to overlay images of vintage maps of some major cities onto satellite images from today. The results are fascinating."

The Smithsonian Magazine overlayed maps of American cities for the past centuries with modern satellite images to show differences in the development and planning and the growth of the cities.

The growth and change of the cities changed over the years on how it was achieved and how far it could be expanded due to new technology and movement of people to urban areas. The technology helped achieved a certain hold over the environment to build more urban spaces.

TeachingwithiPad.org: Dropbox for Dummies: Why You Shouldn't Need Your USB Key Again

TeachingwithiPad.org: Dropbox for Dummies: Why You Shouldn't Need Your USB Key Again | Fiji 1916 | Scoop.it

"Dropbox is my number one productivity tool that I use every single day, both for teaching and personal purposes. If you are still toting around USB thumb-drives and moving files from your home and work computers that way, keep on reading. If not, feel free to check out some of my more advanced Dropbox articles listed below.

For the completely uninitiated, Dropbox is a cloud storage solution that is free for the everyday user. Dropbox will give you (a rather paltry) 2GB of space when you first sign up. You can increase your free space to up to 19GB by doing certain tasks (referrals will net you an extra 500MB each). If you find that you need extra space, you can opt to purchase additional storage of up to 500GB total."
