Open Space is shaping and changing the future of theatre and the arts, says Phelim McDermott of Devoted and Disgruntled
What feels like casual conversation can effect real change
Open Space is a simple yet sophisticated way for large groups of people to self-organise their own conference. It operates on a series of principles and a single law: "the law of two feet", which basically translates as 'don't stay where you don't want to be, move to where your time is being used well'.
In doing D&D over the past seven years we have discovered there is a great hunger for these events, both to initiate projects and to create a genuine sense of community, a cure for the isolation which many artists feel when they are busy making their work.
