What if someone gave you a gift that made you feel more relaxed, more alert and gave you more energy. Now suppose this gift also made your food taste better, helped you to sleep deeper and made your significant other want to kiss you more...:)


Meditation even just for a moment is such a gift and here's the really neat thing, it's a gift you can give yourself many times a day without having to give up anything... How does that sound? Don't you want it right now?

Harvard researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital find that participating in an eight-week mindfulness meditation program appears to make measurable changes in brain regions associated with memory, sense of self, empathy, and stress.


"Previous studies from Lazar’s group and others found structural differences between the brains of experienced meditation practitioners and individuals with no history of meditation, observing thickening of the cerebral cortex in areas associated with attention and emotional integration."

craig daniels's insight:

I was glad to see some of there results of this study so that there are measurable results within the brain showing up in as little as 8 weeks. These  finding will not only spur on further study but will also and more importantly spur on more people practicing mindfulness and meditation.


I took the 8 week course at UMass Amherst about 15 years ago and I can say from my own experience there are huge benefits to the course and to continuing to practice mindfulness afterwards.


I'm looking forward to reading more about this study and to my own continued practice.

Little by little businesses and schools are swinging over to the mindfulness side of the equation and seeing the benefits in all areas of their organizations.


Mindfulness is not just about stress reduction, though it certainly has a huge role in helping people move into a more relaxed way of life. Mindfulness help users focus and get more done in all aspects of their work and home lives, it certainly has been shown to be one of the most cost effective offerings a company or school can offer.

Learning Mindfulness One Breath At A Time...

A short and very simple guided mindfulness meditation experience with Dr John Kabat-Zinn.

Take 12:00 minutes to listen to this introduction to mindfulness practice from Jon Kabat-Zinn at UMass Medical Center.


Watch it once and then watch it again as if you were in the room, just follow his instructions and boom you'll have a deeper understanding and experience of mindfulness.


I took the 10 week mindfulness class taught by his team almost 20 years ago and found as I practiced more my mind quieted and the more my life came into balance.
