16 Time Rapist Gets Life In Prison For Marijuana

ALINGTON, Texas

By: Wayne Kerr

Note: The photo above is a stock photo and is not of Ray Pugh.

Ray Pugh, 52, of Arlington, Texas, has been a registered sex offender for the past 34 years. He was first arrested when he was 18 for allegedly fondling a 12 year old boy at a summer camp at which he was a counselor. He was given probation and forced to register as a sex offender. By age 22, he had been arrested 3 more times for violent sexual crimes against men and women. He was sentenced to 2 months - 8 months for each of these crimes.

In 1984, Pugh moved to California due to a relocation for his job. He almost immediately got arrested 2 more times for sexual crimes in 1984 and 1985. Then, in 1987, he did it again, except this time, he accidentally suffocated Betty Filder, who was 18 years old at the time. Under California 3 strikes law, he was given life in prison. 2 years later, he was let out of prison on parole because of overcrowding, in order to make room for drug users who have mandatory minimum sentences. He continued to commit sexual offenses and get arrested, but continually got out of jail.

He moved back to Arlington in 2011, and was recently arrested again.

This time, however, he will not get off so easily. On May 24th, Pugh was apprehended by Arlington Police during a drug raid. It was found that he had just under 1 pound of hash, a derivitive of Cannabis. He was convicted August 3rd, and was sentenced today (August 26th) in city court. Under Texas law, someone with about 1 pound of hash can be fined 50,000 dollars and given life in prison. The judge threw the book at him.

"Raping and killing women and children is one thing, but in our state, we will NOT allow someone to have hash. You are  a danger to society with your drug use, and it is important that you never see the light of day again. You are sentenced to life in prison, and must pay a fine of no less than $50,000."

Several rape victims expressed outrage, claiming that he should have been given life in prison for his crimes against them, not the cannabis charge. They have vowed to work toward changing the Texas law.

Blake's Universe's insight:

NEW YORK, New York

By: Stu Padasso

In the United States, Marijuana is a Class I controlled substance, meaning it is the most illegal of all drugs and has no beneficial purpose. It has more controlled than crack cocaine, and shares the same class of drugs as the most dangerous drugs in the world.

Though marijuana hasn't killed anyone, it is extremely dangerous because it makes people laugh, hungry, and relax. We met up with a DEA agent who agreed, on the condition of remaining anonymous, to talk about marijuana and the ways people are still finding to use this horrible drug.

"We like our drugs in America to make people productive. Adderall, 5 hour energy, caffeine, sugar, even cocaine.. those keep people working and productive for the economy. Marijuana is dangerous because it allows people to relax and clear their mind. We consider this to be a national threat. Not only that, but it's potency and ability to be grown so easily makes it so we cannot charge a tax on it. If we can't tax it, it's evil. Marijuana itself is a terrorist."

The agent wasn't lying. We went to 6 tobacco supply shops within a 1 mile radius in Rochester, New York, and surveyed 52 customers who were purchasing pipes, bongs, rolling papers, and bubblers. We asked them about their tobacco use with these devices.

John E, 28 of Syracuse, answered "Um, I don't think anyone smokes tobacco unfiltered through these pipes. It would probably destroy their lungs". He then added "Tobacco is really bad for you and has been the cause of more deaths than anything else in our history".

I then inquired, "So you are using the pipe for Marijuana"?

"Yes." He replied.

In New York, it is illegal to buy a pipe for Marijuana. It is also illegal to discuss marijuana in a tobacco shop, or to sell a pipe to someone who claims they will use it for marijuana. The small baggies, scales, pipes, bongs, stash cans, and other items are for Tobacco only. We met with Frank Lee Dikkish, 43 of Rochester, who disapproves of people abusing these items.

"I buy the small baggies to shash my tobacco in an oatmeal can. I use the scale to weigh it out to make sure no one is stealing it. I use the stash can to make sure my son doesn't steal my tobacco. To think that people would take items clearly made for tobacco and use them for marijuana is angering and gives people like me a bad name!"

Joey T, 16, had a different view. "I've never smoked marijuana, but some of my friends do. Why would you buy a grinder for tobacco? I don't know why you would try to smoke Tobacco from a glass pipe, either. That seems dangerous. Who buys a stash can for Tobacco? Why would you need to detoxify yourself for a drug test for Tobacco? I don't think these items are made for Tobacco. It's all Bull<expletive>"

New York has decriminalized marijuana, but still claims there is no medical benefit to the drug and that having a pipe or other device for the purpose of smoking marijuana remains a serious misdemeanor. Though New York does not regulate tobacco shops that don't sell tobacco, marijuana is still considered a major crime in NY.

Thicke to Miley Cyrus: "WTF, Bitch!?"

On Sunday, August 25th, a memorable evening of eccentric performances and gross experiences swept New York City for the MTV Video Music Awards. Lady Gaga started off the evening with her new single, "Applause", which included staged boos and elaborate costume changes.

Gaga, however, was not the hot topic of the evening. Robin Thicke, who has been nominated for 4 MTV Video Music Awards, performed for the first time at the awards show Sunday. His performance was overshadowed, however, by a seemingly drug-induced pornographic performance by former child star Miley Cyrus. Cyrus separated herself from her childish character, Hannah Montana, by putting her hair in pigtails and dancing with teddy bears.

She seemed to hallucinate that she was a cat at first, licking her face all over and petting hair that didn't exist. She then sang a song about taking the drug Molly (MDMA), her popular hit "We Can't Stop". Unfortunately, everyone wanted her to stop, but she didn't. She ripped off even more clothes, exposing a flat chest and a pair of underwear that split her butt cheeks apart by exactly 7".

Miley drew a shocked reaction from the audience and the world, and her performance led immediately into a joint performance with Robin Thicke of his popular #1 hit, "Blurred Lines". Cyrus rubbed her lower quarters all over Thicke's dick, and it was sick, like she was turning a trick. You could see his stick, and it happened quick.

After the performance, Thicke ran backstage, and threw a temper tantrum. "This is bullshit," proclaimed Thicke, adding "WTF, Bitch.. my family was in the damn audience! Now I have to get these pants dried off and burned." He then shuttered a little, and appeared as though he was going to be sick. "She screwed me out of my moment tonight. Hell, she screwed me DURING my moment tonight, right in front of the world. It was hard to keep it all under control, if you know what I mean."

Ozzy Osborne, who was not at the show and said he did not watch it, stood up for Cyrus. "I mean, c'mon man.. it's like <unknown jibberish> ahhhhhhhh laaaaawwwwwwwwwmmmmmmmaaaa".

Whether you agree with Thicke or Osborn, it is certain that Cyrus got what she wanted, which is lots of publicity. Thicke got what he didn't want, which is crabs.
