Some interesting facts here in the insight and I like it, this is like a new topic to me even though it is still social media but it also talk about SEO social engine optimization which is brand new to me. At the same time unlike all other article that are asking small business to start using social media in their business the insight shows that this article also shows the reasons and fact that most consultants choose to use social media and SEO in medium company other than larger organisations. I like how the insight reflects clearly how the article teaches us and other companies to create an independent and coordinated social media. Not only mentions the tips to empower the enterprise but also list them out and how they can help the company to reach their goals by using social media. Another good point at the end of the insight is companies can use Facebook or twitter to make a link and allow the people that are interested to the company to make a connection with the business.

Good insight and thanks for sharing the article. The insight reflects the five suggestions for companies to empower enterprise social media SEO by creating an independent and coordinated social media. Not like other articles that only focus on how to using social media to engage with customers or increase sales productivity, this article talk about SEO social engine optimisation that is from a new point of view to help business owners to enhance their performance so I found this article is really interesting. The idea of using social media as a customer engagement tool that can both connect with old customers as well as build relationships with potential customers by attaching a link to company websites is really clever, and this is not only suitable for social media, but is widely used in direct marketing as well.

The insight was good, you showed a clear understanding of what you read in the article, the 10 steps are interesting, and some of them I haven’t heard of it before but some of them I did. This is good because you learn something new every day. I think most strategic social media plan include define goals, determine tactics and choose the right channel and strategy that suits the company’s goals then the rest of the steps are determined by different company due to their needs and skills available. Also as you mentioned I agree that all companies need to do careful research about which social media you should pick and which one are suitable for you. This is because I know social media can do a lot of things and it covers a big range of activities picking a social media that collect ideas won’t help you to create sales.

Your insight is good and I can see your understanding of this article through your comment. This article clearly list 10 steps of how to developing a strategic social media plan for business. The article discussed the process in detail and your insight really helps me to understand it. These 10 steps are closely connected with each other, with each of them focusing on a specific field, and these steps should be continuous carried out. From my point of view, the most important step is the last one, measure and refine, and it is also the step that most likely be forgotten by business owners. After all those effort made before, it is important to see how it works. Your strategies cannot be perfect once you set down, and it need to be adjusted with the time goes by, because it seems like no way for a “one -fits-all” strategy that always suitable in all different conditions. Measuring and analysing the result therefore you can make some further development in the future.

The marketing communication mix is a tool, which can help to improve the market share, raising awareness and to attract customer to buy your product. To developing the strategy planning that have four different aspects to the communications mix need to consider it. These four aspects are advertising, promotion, public relations and packaging. Advertising is a effective way to attract customer’s attention also can delivery the message to the customer and let them feel interest to your brand. Market communication mix is a very useful tool and just as your insight there is a lot of benefits when a company does marketing communication mix, this is because by applying multiple skills on marketing you can increase the power of what you are trying to promote or increase public relations. For example as you mentioned there is multiple way of doing advertising, buy one get one free is a way to increase the goods you sell so there can be more people that notice your product, coupons is another one because people normally like discounts and your discount coupons will attract them to buy your products. I also think that packaging can be a way of advertising too even though most people use it as a protection and carrying. This is because when you carry it other people can see where you but the product from and with a good logo people can memorise it or notice it especially when you are with friends a good example with Starbucks their logos are very easy to identify and be noticed.
Yujue Wang 1250401's comment, September 26, 2013 6:21 PM
Another good article to read and your insight really helps me to understand. This article discussed four aspects to the communications mix to enhance business strategy: advertising, promotion, public relations and packaging. All of them are quite effective and have been taken by lots of brand as marketing communications mix. However, I think business owners need to use these approaches carefully and avoiding over use anyone of them. For example, last week I saw news about one of OLAY’s customer argued about the packaging of its products. This lady purchased a facial cream from a supermarket, but when she went home and opened the packaging, she found the actual product was not as big as the packaging. In another word; it was just a tiny bottle with a large packaging. Although there was a label on the packaging shows the actual amount of the product, but this lady said, as the packaging designer using the similar colour for the label and the base and minimising the word size, it is hard for people to realise it. From this example we can see the importance of using marketing communication mix in right way. Choosing a suitable approach and use it right, therefore you can develop your marketing strategy.

3 Ways to Use Social Media to Increase Sales Productivity

3 Ways to Use Social Media to Increase Sales Productivity | Milestone 2 | Scoop.it

For sales professionals, the advent of the Internet Age has been something of a mixed blessing. Certainly, online communication has presented innumerable marketing and sales opportunities, but it has also made for a shorter sales cycle.

Via Riaz Khan
Elaine Li's insight:

This article point out three ways to use social media to increase sales productivity. Firstly, use social media to verify your leads. For example, the business to business model sales, only provide the basic information such as the name of the company or the person’s name. Therefore, the company staff can research their customer from social media to get information. This is can ensure the company staff to do the right things not wastes their time to sell the wrong products to the consumer. Company stuff can use social media such as facebook, twitter, and Linkeln to do their research. Especially Linkedln, from this social media you can go to that company’s page to find out detail information about that company. After your research, you can use right strategy to sell your product to that company. Your company also can create your own Linkedln page, which can let other company to find you but the contact person must be the person who can make the decision for the company. The second way is follow your leads. For example, your company sells cyber security products and service on twitter, another company in your area has been victimized by a hacker attack, and this is an ideal time to contact them to sell your product and service. The third way is to find the best consumers. For example, your company sale the wireless router, then your sales manager can to do a research on twitter to find out the person who really need the products, then you can contact them as soon as possible. This is a very fast way to help them to increase their sales. Social media not only help company to open their market, they also help company to find out the consumer who really need your product and your service.

Another good article and insight about social media, this time the insight point out that social media can be used as a way to increase sales productivity. I know that social media can be used as a collection of data and a perfect place to do research, because there is just so many people on there and as this insight and article point out, asking staffs to do more research and learning more from the social media can let them have the knowledge to understand the customers more, with this they can save their time and give out idea to customers or event help them to pick their product because you know what they want. This is a very good way to improve sales qualities. Another point that you point out which I think is very smart is physically look for your market on social media, I like the example that you provided but here is another one for example I sell insect sprays I can go look for where insects are a problem and try connect your business to that part of people where they need your product.
Yujue Wang 1250401's comment, September 26, 2013 10:13 AM
Thank you for sharing this article and I enjoy read your summary and insight. Using social media as a researching and data collection tool is not news. It is no doubt that social media could be really useful in terms of collecting information and comments about your products and service as there are lots of people engaging brands through social media. Through researching and analysing comments on social media, company may learn more about what their customer think about its products and service and therefore making some further developments. However, I do not think it could save much time to do that and I doubt this is the best approach for small business to do so. It is true that people talk about brands on social media and your staff can easily get access. But people may talk in their way, and it may not always contain the information you really need. So it may cost lots of time and human resource to researching and analysing comments on social media.

Your insights are good and the article did show how people make mistakes in their business. After reading your insight I see there is quite a lot of data and research to prove that there are still business especially small ones are not using social media with direct mails. And the article is still trying to ask small business to start adapting them to the digitized world. As you said social media can really help the business and it is very important that business connect their business to social media. This can link the business directly to the customers and let you connect with them. One thing I learnt is always use more social media logos to show your updates and tell people that are interested in your business to scan the QR code which allow them to make a connection with you. One more thing in the insight that I think its is very good, business that are starting to use social media as a tool but at the same time they are new to it they can get a coach or a person that are good with this to help them out. Which will also stop the problem of I got no idea how to use social media for my small business because we don't have the skills here.

As what showed in your insight, this article really showed the phenomenon that small business wrongly spend their money on non-effective marketing method: direct mail marketing. The author carefully analysis the data. It is really helpful for audience to understand the issue in actual life as you point out it at the first place. Then as you said, the problem become clear that few small businesses integrate the social media to the direct mail marketing. As for recommendations, author provides 8 advices to small business about emerging the direct mailing and social media. Most of them act as linking the customer to the products and business and attract them with easier ways connecting to the business. One of the most important point is providing contact information of the business on handy medias, such as phone and facebook page. In the end of the article, it is good to provide customer experience to help small business solve their current issues.
