Hope this trend continues. Having gone to Design/Art school I now find myself working as a Social Media Consultant to Businesses and still get the "look" when they find out that I have a creative (i.e. crazy) background... Love how this article states:
"Design thinking uses close, almost anthropological observation of people to gain insight into problems that may not be articluated yet" Yep, that sounds like social media all the way!
Donna's company - First Power "builds meaningful relationships and partnerships with leading First Nations and other communities to explore the connections between traditions, teachings and innovative technologies. We help develop projects that harness the power of the wind, rain, sun and earth and align them with the highest goals and deep talents of communities."
Facebook grows at over 10 million users a month and sits currently at number two on web traffic rankings according to Alexa.com. Last year Facebook even surpassed Google for the top ranking for total time spent online.
Paul Adams has given talks before about how Facebook is transforming traditional marketing — after all, he's the social network's global brand experience manager. He reminds us again that social media is about "conversation" and not a one way push or traditional broadcasting method!
Today, American Express unveiled a new program with Twitter to let cardmembers sync accounts with the social network, and earn savings from big brands such as Whole Foods, Best Buy, and Zappos--just by retweeting certain hashtags.
"Experience" is the marketing buzzword of our time but what does it mean? How connected to your body are you? According to this article a knowledge of how your sensations are "coded" to your body will give you an edge as a marketer. Ladies, start your engines...lol.
This blogger writes that Zukerberg has never failed. I think he forgot the incident where he got dumped by the girl and so he decided to seek "revenge" and started the whole website for dating thing -- The Face Book.
Of course, this blogger is talking about in his business life......in which apparently he has never failed but if we are the sum of what we think about most of the time so Zuckerberg must have really felt it to create such a response.
"Now there's a new pattern (in technology) created by two big ideas. First, for the first time ever, you have computer devices, mobile and tablet especially, in the hands of billions of people. Second is that we are moving all the social needs that we used to do face-to-face, and we're doing them on a computer.
And this trend has just begun. If you think Facebook is the end, ask MySpace. Art, entertainment, everything you can imagine in life is moving to computers. Companies like Facebook for the first time can get total markets approaching the entire population."
To make the top 100 list, you have to rack up about 8,500 shares in 24 hours. This is closer to the 99.9th repeated percentile than the 95th (and there is a big snowball at the top), so let’s do napkin math and relax that to about 1,000 shares.
We are continually surprised by the facts, figures and statistics that are thrown up by social media networks. Social media has taken the world by storm and is reinventing how we consume, view and share information.
