According to the loan terms, $2.1 billion of the funds will go entirely towards the cost of acquiring Thoratec, with $500 million slated to be used to refinance existing debt and for general purposes."

(Redwood, CA) will propel its growth in the transcatheter mitral space. Twelve “has the most novel technology along with a strong, proven team,” Medtronic said in a statement. It plans to pay $50 million when Twelve’s device obtains the CE Mark, and the rest at closing."

"While there are many obstacles on the path to U.S. regulatory acceptance and validation of in vitro irritation and sensitization models, much progress has been made in developing a medical device specific irritation model. Every medical device manufacturer must conduct the “Big Three” biocompatibility tests for cytotoxicity, irritation, and sensitization, or provide justification for why the tests were not performed. Cytotoxicity testing is performed in vitro, while irritation and sensitization tests are currently conducted in vivo on guinea pigs and rabbits, something the industry is working to change."
