Financial Modeling: Vital Facts about Excel Functions & Charts

Financial Modeling: Vital Facts about Excel Functions & Charts | BI with Microsoft Tools | Scoop.it

It prevents incomprehension of what has been studied or learnt already. But options and alternatives available to us force us to look back and cross-check. This cross-checking throws light up on some facts we would have otherwise ignored.

This article explores lesser known but useful facts about some of the excel functions and charts.

This paper describes best practices for security, networking, and component architecture for building a hybrid business intelligence (BI) environment by using a combination of Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure, and on-premises data sources".

Story telling with Excel Power BI

Story telling with Excel Power BI | BI with Microsoft Tools | Scoop.it

With Power Business Intelligence (BI) tools of Excel 2013, one can metamorphose raw data and/or results of complex calculations into stunning and interactive visualizations.  Power View (one of the four components of Power BI) allows one to create a PPT like flow in Excel thus allowing one to weave a story.  To be able to interact with/create visualizations, you will need to install Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 (this version will already have two of the four components of Power BI - PowerPivot and Power View).  Additionally, you will have to install the following add-ins from Microsoft (the other two components of Power BI) - See more at: http://www.ashishmathur.com/story-telling-with-excel-power-bi/#sthash.uRVpuRkT.dpuf

Using dynamic parameter values in Power Query Queries « ORAYLIS Blog | BI with Microsoft Tools | Scoop.it

I’ve been using Power Query (former Data Explorer) to query and combine different SQL Server sources over the
last few weeks. One thing I recognized when adding filters was the fixed value
for every condition. No expressions or Excel formulas can be used directly to
filter queries.
In this post I will show you how to use dynamic parameter values giving users the
ability to adjust their query results without deep scripting language experience.
In the example we’ll use Excel 2013 and the AdventureWorks2012.
