Compassion is the sharing of feelings, otherwise known as empathy. Empathetic behaviour has a scattered distribution through all tiers of society and all lands. From the noblest King or Queen to the last person, empathy may or may not exist. This does not indicate that social injustice also does or does not exist. Empathy is a human condition, not a purely economic condition, and thus is more related to the philosophic and social considerations than to actual considerations of fairness and justice.
Compassion is also very powerful. It allows us to see the world through the eyes of others and gives us understanding into the causes of happiness and suffering.
